first touches ➡️ national team. 1 year of amputee football. having to change the way i play the beautiful game was hard at first. i never thought id play like i used to. instead i play better than ever. in only a single year, i have pushed my limits and gotten to a level i wouldnt have on two legs. i have joined an incredible community and met incredible people. i have a new desire and a new perspective of football, because the truth is it never leaves you. i am so grateful to be able to play my sport better than ever and be apart of one of the greatest communities. the future awaits for me. it's schwein time.

It’s been a pretty special few weeks for @tommyschweinitz (@schweintime73 ) ⚽️ After joining us at the UASA Adaptive Soccer Camp in Chicago, he swapped practice drills for the real thing - the roar of a packed stadium, stepping out (and scoring!) for his lifelong club, Minnesota United FC, thanks to @makeawishmn . We caught up with Tommy and his mom, Liz, to hear about his journey, his love of the beautiful game, and his incredible recent soccer experiences. (🎥 Video credit: Minnesota United FC | @mnufc ) Video Description: Just six months out from his amputation surgery, and two months out from finishing chemotherapy, Tommy Schweinitz is back on the soccer field! After joining the UASA Adaptive Soccer Camp in Chicago, he was invited to take to the pitch with his beloved Minnesota United FC, scoring a goal in front of The Loons’ fans to fulfil a childhood dream. Alongside his mom, Liz, Tommy shares his journey back to the game he loves, and the moments that have made this summer unforgettable. #UASA #SoAllMayPlay #AdaptiveSoccer #SoccerForAll #AmputeeSoccer #MNUFC

Since January 2024, I played soccer almost everyday on knee pain which was never enough to stop me from playing the sport I love so much. Unfortunately, this knee pain was a cancerous tumor that was affecting me and I didn't even know until September 2024. The tumor, which I named Mc, has lead me to a point I thought I would never have to face but now do This Thursday I'm undergoing surgery which will remove everything above my right knee, meaning I will not have my right leg and will be unable able to continue to play soccer as I have before as I must use a prosthetic for the future As much as I would have loved to continue and continue play for MTA and have a senior year on the field for Southwest, I have realized that the dream just won't work out at this point. And who knows maybe we'll see me out on the pitch again sometime With that, I am hanging up the boots (for now) and hope to stay involved in the sport in other ways, however I won't continue playing. I won't be posting on this account like usual but I'll leave everything up on t.s._73 There's so much more I could talk about, but I I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me through my journey in soccer and a special thanks to my past coaches and all of my past teammates ❤️ #73out
