Much appreciation to @dimensions_variable for shouting out my exhibition @orlandomuseumofart . There are four weeks to go until our big closing extravaganza on June 14th when I will be in conversation with astronaut and artist @astro_nicole aka Nicole Stott. On International Space Day recently, attendance was 2500! If you are a Miami artist you should seriously consider being an artist member for only $20 a month. There are lots of perks, like inexpensive artwork photography days, members only sit downs with some of Miami's best curators and gallerists and more. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote those words in The Little Prince. Dennis Scholl (@schollcreative ) saw something in them that spoke to the opposite: the pure, uncomplicated joy of John Glenn watching the sun set four times as he circled Earth in 1962.
A Day of Four Sunsets holds both feelings at once. Sadness and wonder. The intimate and the infinite. Assembled from real NASA artifacts, mission patches, and declassified documents, Scholl's work reframes history as something personal, poetic, and deeply human.

In honor of the Pulitzer Prize awards this week I had dinner at Joes with my own Pulitzer Prize winning friend, one of the great photo journalists around the world, Patrick Farrell ! Debra and Jodi were there too! But somehow did not make it into the pic. Sorry! Also since we were at Joe's, Patrick sent me this picture of Joe's long time maître d' , Roy on his retirement day. @kareemtabsch and I were fortunate enough to have Patrick take our photo for @miamiherald when The Last Resort came out. Making indie films is a series of small steps repeated over and over, mixed with a lot of hope and effort. And then every once in a while you have a lovely moment.
For our short film , “ George V,” this is one of the loveliest of moments. Indie filmmakers know the care and attention @vimeo pays to ther staff picks, so to be chosen for this honor means a lot to our team, @edtalavera , #diakontaxis, and yours truly. With much thx as always to #scottpringle! And our course to @gary_monroe_photography for being the defender of so many works of art that would have been otherwise lost. @highmuseumofart and the team there did an incredible job of bringing George’s story to wider acclaim, especially @kjentleson , check out the film!!!
Great weekend with my nephew, @feliciottoconcept aka @felixworld checking out @superblue.art and the Dolce and Gabana exhibition @icamiami . I am seldom enthused about fashion survey exhibitions in museums but this one is epic. I mean , Run Don’t Walk to this show. The #ica took a risk opening this as the first big show in the former Delacruz space, but, boy did it pay off. Kudos to @alexgartenfeld and the whole team for bringing a show stopper to Miami …. Rumored to have cost $20mm to put together, it is a look at the career of the Sicilian born fashion team and their maximalist fashion creations.. our community has never seen anything quite like it. Go see it.. that cannoli purse looked good enough to eat!!
Busy week @orlandomuseumofart , including 1444 visitors last week to the opening night of my first solo museum exhibition! I returned yesterday to photograph the show for the upcoming catalogue. And to splendid the afternoon with the docents of the museum. docents are the volunteer arm of the Education team of any museum. And this docent group was active, engaged and excited to lead tours throughout the run of the show. Thank you #docents of #orlandomuseumofArt! And last but not least my friend @ajcmezzo popped in for a visit between her performing obligations at the #orlandobachfestival. She has a voice like an angel!! One of my personal highlights was going on the roof of the OMA and seeing my first live space launch… incredible..

Wow. What a night ! Hundreds of folks came to see my show @orlandomuseumofart . ( maybe as many as 800?! ). So much fun seeing kids learning what a view master is and seeing Tang and space food for the first time. To all of the Friends of Scholl who came out last night from every part of Florida , thx for showing up, I so appreciate each and every one of you.
