It has been a Herculean journey in @andybcung 's storyboarding mentorship!
A 12-week journey began in June, wrapping up in September where I developed my comedy storyboard "B Grade” - about a girl named Lina who desperately tries to hide the B she got on her report from her father - going from a script to final boards.
I would not have imagined being able to make such leaps in improvement from the storyboard I made earlier in the year without the outstanding mentorship of Andy over these past 12 weeks, as well as my fellow mentees @cdse_official@secretsivekept and @tommy_dibenedetto who inspired me with their progress each session (Be sure to check out their amazing work as well!!!) 🎉
It was a daunting task to tackle a comedy board for the first time, with fears that I just wouldn't be funny. But thank you Andy and fellow mentees for still laughing at my boards somehow even though I pitched the same jokes over and over each week. It certainly gave me confidence throughout, that I was still developing a worthwhile storyboard when I had great doubts in my ability as a storyteller and board artist.
It was an absolute delight to meet up every week, exchange ideas and just have fat chats about filmmaking and story. I'll miss it dearly! 🥺
A final thank you to Andy again, for pushing me to create the very best storyboard I could and believing in me when I didn't myself ❤️🙏
I know exactly where I need to improve moving forward, but at this point in time "B Grade" is a storyboard that displays the extent of my current abilities and I've been so excited to share it.

Ecstatic to post that I've finally finished this 3.5-month-long endeavour - Canopy, an original storyboard-animatic about a young inventor who gets more than she bargained for after deciding to test her new invention at the sacred Festival of the Regalius.
Canopy (unintentionally) became the longest storyboard I've done so far. I learned so much through the process of creating it and I'm glad I stuck it out, as I definitely considered dropping it and moving on to another project more than once during these past couple of months.
I'm also incredibly lucky I took Andy Cung's Storyboarding Revisionist Fundamentals class while I was working on this animatic as it really helped me improve the boards during the drawing process!
Also a big thank you to @floryboards for being incredibly supportive and encouraging through the process of making this storyboard 😭

I honestly impressed myself with how quickly the clean-ups on the final scene are going, and it’s nice to see how my drawing has become more solid from the earlier clean-ups to the latest. THE END IS SO NEARRRR it’s hard to believe 😭😭🙏

Just to clarify, their film that’s coming out is actually the adaptation of a book called “Whalefall” which I had no clue about!! So it’s not like my pilot is the first piece of media in existence to be called “Whale Fall” BUT GOD DAMN WHY DID WE HAVE TO PICK THE SAME RELEASE YEAR LMAO 😭😭😭😭 I am looking forward to their film too though!!! 😆
