“California is my home and my subject. There is a profound vastness to its coast and desert, spaces that serve as reminders of our human scale. I spend time traveling in this harsh and beautiful landscape, carefully choosing my viewpoint to include both natural and man-made elements. My choice of painting, not photography is an important one. My interest is not straight documentation. Painting offers an emotional connection to the subject that is not offered in other mediums. Each painting is rendered with the hope the viewer feels the presence of these environments as I have.”

“White Square” (Kikar Levana) is a prominent environmental sculpture by Israeli artist Dani Karavan located in Edith Wolfson Park in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Staying connected to our recent exhibition theme The Language of Trees, this sculpture is made of white concrete and includes a split dome with an olive tree growing between the sections, symbolizing peace and fertility.
The installation is designed to be experienced physically, allowing visitors to climb and interact with its various elements.

This was an unexpected and super fun, recent art installation experience worthy of sharing! Ie: When three become six—reflections doubling the rhythm, extending the conversation. In this install with Casper Brindle’s light glyphs the mirror doesn’t just echo the work; it amplifies it, opening the space and letting color and light move beyond the space itself. Double the pleasure / double the fun!

This week’s art in nature post features one of our favorite art in nature artists: Andy Goldsworthy. He has an ability to commune with nature in a way like no other. Goldsworthy is internationally recognised for his work with natural materials such as clay, stones, reeds, branches, leaves, snow and ice. Over fifty years, he has created a unique and highly influential body of work that speaks of our relationship with the land.
