לאחר שבועות של מלחמה, אנחנו פותחים מחדש את התערוכה של דני קרוון, ״הרהורים על מלחמה ושלום״.
במלחמת ששת הימים, בזמן שירות מילואים, התלווה קרוון לכוחות הלוחמים ויצר סדרה של רישומים מהירים ואקספרסיביים, התופסים ברגע מכריע את הפיתוי ואת העוולה של המלחמה. לעומת מציאות זו, ולאורך עשורים, הוא יצר סביבות של שלום — מיצבים, פסלים, רישומים, הדפסים — בשיווי משקל מופלא של שקט וזרימה.
בתערוכה מבחר מיצירותיו של אחד מגדולי האמנים הישראלים שבמשך שנים של יצירה ממוקדת עוקב אחר תנועת המטוטלת, ריקוד המוות והחיים.
חזרנו בעדינות ובפחד - ולא כרגיל.

After weeks of war, we are reopening the exhibition by Dani Karavan, Meditations on War and Peace.
During the Six-Day War, Karavan accompanied the combat forces and created a series of rapid, expressive drawings that capture, in a decisive moment, both the seduction and the injustice of war.
In contrast to this reality, and over the course of decades, he created environments of peace — installations, sculptures, drawings, prints — in a remarkable balance of stillness and flow.
The exhibition presents a selection of works by one of Israel’s greatest artists, who, through dedication and focused practice, traces the pendulum movement of existence — a dance of death and life.

דני קרוון היה מן האמנים הבולטים והמשפיעים שפעלו בישראל ובעולם, ואחד ממנסחי השפה של הפיסול הסביבתי והאמנות הציבורית המודרנית. עבודתו יצרה מרחבים של שהות, זיכרון והרהור, הנשענים על גיאומטריה פשוטה, על יסודות טבעיים ועל חוויה גופנית וחושית של המרחב. התערוכה מציגה צד קאמרי ואינטימי ביצירתו: רישומי שלום שנוצרו כהרהור לאחר מלחמת יום הכיפורים, רישומי מלחמה שצוירו בזמן אמת במלחמת ששת הימים, ולצידם פסלי ברונזה קטנים. העבודות מציבות זו מול זו את המלחמה והשלום לא כקטבים מופשטים אלא כמצבים אנושיים ממשיים, ומזקקות את שאלת השלום לפעולה של יצירה: צורה שנבנית שוב ושוב מתוך הרס, זיכרון וחומר.

Dani Karavan was one of the most prominent and influential artists working in Israel and internationally, and one of the key figures in shaping the language of environmental sculpture and modern public art. His work created spaces of presence, memory, and contemplation, grounded in simple geometry, natural elements, and a bodily, sensory experience of space.
The exhibition presents an intimate, chamber-like aspect of his oeuvre: Drawings of Peace created as reflections in the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War; war drawings executed in real time during the Six-Day War; and alongside them, small bronze sculptures. Together, these works place war and peace face to face—not as abstract opposites, but as concrete human conditions—and distil the question of peace into an act of creation: a form repeatedly built out of destruction, memory, and material.

החודש התקיים ביפן טקס הענקת פרסי הפרמיום אימפריאלה, שמוענקים מטעם משפחת הקיסרות היפנית על תרומה יוצאת דופן לעולם האמנות.
השנה אחת הזוכות הייתה מרינה אברמוביץ׳, מהאמניות המשפיעות בעולם.
רק שני ישראלים זכו בפרס היוקרתי הזה – דניאל ברנבוים ודני קרוון.
לדני קרוון היה חיבור עמוק עם יפן, והוא יצר בה עבודות שמחברות בין אור, חומר וטבע ועשה קסמים כשהביא את האור של המדבר הישראלי ליערות היפנים.

כיכר הבימה לקראת הריסה כאשר התכנית להפוך אותה לשטח התארגנות (כמו כיכר רבין) ואז לתחנת מטרו.
כל זה באישור העירייה, בראשו של חולדאי.
הכיכר אינה מגרש משחקים שלו אלא שטח ציבורי, ליבה של עירנו ונכס תרבטתי.
