What does it take to completely give 25 MRT trains a makeover? π
More than engineering expertise, it takes teamwork, resilience through a global pandemic, and commitment by the people to see the project through. πͺπΌ
Since its launch in 2003, the North East Line has set the benchmark as the worldβs first fully automated underground heavy rail system. To sustain its high reliability, we carried out a mid-life upgrade for its 25 first-generation trains to meet evolving technological and operational demands.
Beyond a technical upgrade, this project reflects a promise to putting our commuters at the heart of every decision β€οΈ β driven by collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
Together with the Land Transport Authority (@ltasg ) and CRRC Corporation Ltd. Nanjing Puzhen (@crrc_global ), we stand together for a better tomorrow. β οΈ

βKeeping every commuter safe is part of my responsibility,β shared Customer Service Officer Jansen Heng.
Last September, Jansen was on duty on board a train when a lady discreetly approached him. She gestured to a man nearby, claiming that he had been secretly taking photos from a low angle behind a woman on the escalator at Outram Park Station. Jansen promptly updated our Operations Control Centre and approached the man, who admitted to filming but became defensive about his actions. π
When the train reached Clarke Quay Station, Assistant Station Manager Desmond Dexter had already been deployed to assist. He boarded the train and asked the man to alight, but the man refused to cooperate. Staying calm and professional, both Jansen and Desmond remained beside the man as the train moved off. At the next station, three other station staff managed to escort the man off the train and the team held him at the platform until TransCom officers arrived. The man was later arrested for public nuisance.
On Thursday, both Jansen and Desmond were recognised with the SaferSG Partner (Individual) Awards at the Public Spiritedness and Community Partnership Award ceremony by the Singapore Police Force. π
Their actions are a great example of public spiritedness in action β calm, alert, and always going the extra mile to keep journeys safe and pleasant. Well done, Jansen and Desmond! π

ππ Today and every day, our buses and trains continue to run smoothly and reliably. Behind every journey is a dedicated team working tirelessly to make this possible. πͺ
One of them is Station Manager Loh Kok Chai, who greets commuters at Punggol Coast Station with a warm smile, always ready to lend a helping hand β whether it's guiding someone along their way or ensuring the station remains safe and orderly. Over on Service 291, Senior Bus Captain Chong Chee Geai is on the road, ferrying passengers safely to their destinations while keeping a watchful eye on the elderly and young children who may need a little extra care. π«Ά
To the thousands of public transport heroes working through the holidays and every day in between: Thank you for keeping our city moving! ποΈβ€οΈ
Happy Labour Day everyone! π₯°
A moment of courage, a decisive act.
Last October, Bus Captain Hu Jinshuai spotted a car with its bonnet ablaze at a traffic junction along Circuit Road. He sprang into action, retrieving the onboard fire extinguisher and approaching the burning vehicle to help contain the blaze before it could spread further. π₯π§―
βI was worried there might still be people in the car, and I knew I had to help,β he shared.
Jinshuai's quick thinking and act of bravery not only helped to manage a potentially dangerous situation but also reflected a strong sense of responsibility and care for the community around him. π
In recognition of his swift response and selfless act, Jinshuai was recently presented with the Community First Responder Award by the 2nd Singapore Civil Defence Force Division, a well-deserved honour for stepping forward in a moment of need. π
Well done, Jinshuai! We are so proud of you. π

Sometimes, itβs the little things that mean the most. β€οΈ
Last month, a lady accidentally dropped one of her earrings into an escalator at π Kovan MRT Station. Distressed, she turned to Assistant Station Manager De Torres Jose Ma Paz for help. He immediately stopped the escalator and carried out a thorough check in hopes of retrieving the item. π
Unfortunately, the earring could not be found. Jose gently explained that it had likely slipped deeper under the escalator β an area only accessible during maintenance works. Still, he didn't leave her without hope. He promised that he would personally follow up with the maintenance team and keep her updated.
Two weeks later, our contractor spotted a tiny glimmer of gold during a routine maintenance check. Jose promptly called the lady joyfully to share the good news. π
"I always aim to serve every commuter to the best of my ability and be helpful to everyone," Jose shared. π
βThis wasn't about a piece of jewellery; it was about going the extra mile and refusing to let even the smallest concern fall through the cracks. Thank you, Jose, for showing that service excellence is always in the details and that no act of kindness is ever too small! π
