Expect a night of bass music and left-field electronic at fono, a bouncy rojak of house/gelek2/breakbeats/deep techno over at Triptyk, or be open for a surprise at SBB. 👀
ICYMI, Boiler Room is currently owned by Superstruct Entertainment, whose parent company KKR plays an active role in financing the genocide of the Palestinian people. This counter-event is a gesture of solidarity with Gaza, with all those who continue to be silenced and displaced, and with all cultural workers who refuse to see their work used in this context.
Underground music has historically emerged from various forms of resistance against political, social, or economic oppression, often with collectives like Detroit’s Underground Resistance (UR) explicitly using music as a tool for awareness and empowerment. When platforms with high visibility appropriate the languages of community while remaining complicit with colonial, capitalist and zionist structures, we’re also facing artwashing. Raves were born to break borders, not to legitimise systems of
oppression!
We believe in a community that chooses to know, to question and to act consciously. Please don’t ask us to stop politicising underground music when underground music IS political. If you want to be part of it, show up at one of the venues. Limited capacity in all venues and entry is by a minimum donation of RM15.
