My Mama and I just spent the last ten days on a magical journey through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
We went to visit my older brother and to offer my daddy’s ashes to a very special river. John Prine’s song Paradise was one of his favorites, written about the town his parents were raised in Paradise, Kentucky. There’s a line in the song that says, “when I die let my ashes float down the Green River”… so that’s exactly what we did.
It brings my heart warmth knowing John Prine’s ashes were also placed there… my Daddy resting alongside one of his favorite musicians. 🤍
I didn’t make many plans for this trip, but kismet things just kept unfolding for us. Our first night in town,
@john_prine band was playing a night of music and memories, which felt so meant to be. The following day we headed out to the Kentucky countryside, and we did what many Kentuckians do, played cornhole and drank a little moonshine.
We spent five days in Nashville, soaking up the energy of legendary honky tonks and getting in some really fun line dancing. We also got to see my fav story teller
@theovon . (Comedy has been very healing this last year and I’ve needed the laughter to balance the grief!) Then a last minute road trip to Alabama led us to Muscle Shoals, where we found ourselves in tears, standing in a place that holds so much musical history.
And our final night was the icing on the cake,
@ellalangleymusic and Morgan at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
With each day, it truly felt like my daddy was right there with us, guiding us to all the right places and people.
This was only our second trip, just the two of us, and I hope we get in many more. My mama is the best travel buddy. She talks to everyone, knows how to go with the flow, and is always up for an adventure.
Thank you for the most special week, mama 🤍 and thank you also to the friends old and new that we met along the way. What a magical mystery tour we had! ✨
