It’s with great sorrow that I inform you of the passing of my mother, Rodica Prato. The last three years since my father’s passing had not been easy for her. She had found some new habits and enjoyed taking long walks in Central Park, but was sorely missing her life companion.
All of you who have known her will remember her smile, her kindness and generosity, her incredible talent and spirit.
We are deeply saddened by her passing, but know she is now in a happier place, reunited with Roland.
With the closing of @neuehouse today, an end of an era. Here’s a look back at some of the events I hosted over the years, and some of the “Pastry in Progress” events I put together for the members.
One of our distinguished guests took the photobooth assignment very seriously, and created what can be considered a free-standing photographic opus.

BABAORIUM (2025) My latest pastry installation, consisting of an animated tank of Rum Babas, was presented last month as part of the World Culture and Art Gallery within the Hong Kong Book Fair. My gratitude goes to @jennyjessicac and @n.i.lab of @architecture_commons and @hktdclifestyle for producing this installation, and inviting me to curate some books for the Lifestyle & Culture section, as well as present my work around Architecture and Pastry.
