🚨Dakota and Lakota relatives reclaim space outside the Whipple Federal Building near Minneapolis along Mni Owe Sni (Coldwater Spring) where I.C.E is headquartered. This is an act of sovereignty, a reclamation of a sacred site.
The Whipple Federal Building sits on Fort Snelling, a place where Dakota and other Indigenous relatives were held captive and suffered assault and violence. Many relatives lost their lives at Fort Snelling.
Prayers for all those holding space in a good way at the camp!
Let the Land Breathe!
After years of prayers, protest, the hard work of our amazing team, and the support of many many allies, we have reached our fundraising goal and can now begin the restoration of the oldest village site in the Bay Area, the West Berkeley Shellmound!
In these times of political, economic and social struggle, we are grateful to be able to celebrate this milestone achievement.
In this first phase of work, we will remove the pavement and finally let the land breathe! Our long term vision is to restore this sacred land and daylight Strawberry Creek. This is a huge multiphase project that will take many years to complete.
Thank you to everyone who donated, held fundraisers, spread the word, supported in so many ways, and walked with us all the years that have led to today. We are blessed to be able to continue to do the work our ancestors and future generations are calling us to do.
May all sacred sites return to their ancestral caretakers.
May all of our relatives be safe and protected.
May this world return to balance.

American Indian Movement (AIM), 1969 Occupation of Alcatraz, Veteran Shirley Guevara closed us off with beautiful words at the Emeryville Shellmound. Shirley has been a Mono Matriarch in our urban Indian community. In Huchiun/Oakland she taught at Hintel Kuu Ca that birthed from the Alcatraz occupation.
Shirley raised many of us and is a beloved grandmother in our community. Thank you for your steps, prayers and reminder to keep standing up for the Sacred.
