Lets’s keep it going!
We are at 25% of our $60,000 goal.
Money raised to date will go into escrow to be put toward the land purchase. However, if we cannot meet our $60,000 goal we will have to sell a large portion of the land.

Help an Indigenous family save their land!
Our team member Ashley needs your support-
18-acres of Indigenous family-owned land in Eastern North Carolina, rich with history and cultural significance, is at risk of being lost to a forced sale. It’s more than just land; it’s a legacy that has sustained Ashley’s family and community for generations.
The family is aiming to raise $60,000 to secure the title and deed, ensuring this land remains under Indigenous stewardship. They have an immediate target of $10,000 by January 31, 2026. This land holds the stories and traditions of Coharie people, and it’s vital that we protect it for future generations.
With your support, the family can transform this space into Little River Farm, a women-led land and cultural project dedicated to preserving Indigenous traditions and fostering community through sustainable food systems.
Ashley has one week left to meet the $10,000 goal! Every contribution, no matter the size, brings the family closer to safeguarding their heritage and honoring the ancestors. Together, we can ensure this land remains a source of healing and nourishment for generations to come.

Help Save Indigenous Land!
I’m sharing something that my family and I have been putting a lot of energy, effort and prayers into and now we need your help…
Our land in Eastern North Carolina is at risk of being lost to forced sale. We are aiming to raise a total of $60,000, with an immediate goal of $10,000 by January 31, 2026. Funds will be put toward a family buyout to ensure that the title and deed to the land are secured, allowing it to remain under Indigenous stewardship and off the prospective market.
We are not a people who come from generational wealth, but my grandparents worked hard to leave this land for future generations. It’s now up to us to make sure we can protect their legacy and dream possible futures for the land.
Please donate and share this post so we can meet our first goal!

Much gratitude and appreciation

Intergenerational relationships to fire and to each other are nurtured on rematriated land.
Deep in East Oakland, tucked against the freeway and the railroad tracks, is the first Lisjan (Ohlone) ceremonial arbor raised in more than 250 years, on the first piece of land returned to Indigenous hands in the territory. It is a place to pray, a place to mourn, a place to gather together again as Indigenous people of many backgrounds.
In the center of this ceremonial circle, three generations of Indigenous women work together to make a fire with materials gathered from rematriated lands– soaproot fibers from ‘Ookwe to get it started, kindling from Rinihmu Pulte’irekne, and wood from Lisjan.
Before the return of this land, there was not a place to make a fire together as Indigenous people. In an urban landscape, access to land is access to ceremony, culture, and community. In this small but beautiful corner, juxtaposed against the noise of the freeway, a sacred fire lights possible paths towards rematriation and urban Indigenous futures.
