It’s awareness.

This is what awareness looks like in Detroit!
Last year, Denim Day Detroit was more than a runway—
it was fashion, community, healing, and truth all in one room.
But here’s what makes Denim Day different…
It started as a response to a harmful belief that what someone wears could excuse sexual assault.
So we wear denim to say—loud and clear:
What someone wears is NEVER consent.
And then Detroit does what it does…
We turn awareness into movement. Into culture. Into connection.
From the runway… to the dance floor…
this is what it looks like when a city comes together with purpose.
And this year—we’re going even bigger.

for a purpose bigger than all of us.
From powerful denim art…
to the runway…
to vendors you can shop and support…
This is more than an event.
It’s a statement.
What we wear is NOT consent.

You do not want to miss this!!
Denim Day Detroit isn’t just an event—it’s a movement rooted in truth, healing, and purpose. 💙
For me, this is personal. I show up every year because I believe in creating space for survivors to be seen, heard, and supported—without judgment, without shame. Denim Day reminds us that what someone wears is NEVER an invitation or an excuse. Period.
What makes Detroit special is US. The way this city holds each other. The way we turn pain into power, stories into strength, and community into a safe place to land. Every year is intentionally curated—with love, with care, and with voices that deserve to be amplified.
From the fashion segment, performances to the conversations, now the Denim Day carpet experience @313cinnamonrolls , every detail is designed to honor survivors and educate our community. This is about awareness, accountability, and standing together.
So when you support Denim Day Detroit, you’re not just attending an event—you’re standing for something. You’re helping break cycles. You’re choosing empathy. You’re saying “we see you” to those who need it most.
Come be part of something meaningful. Come stand with us. 💙 👖

SASHA Center has been reflecting and getting quiet, centering ourselves in the face of how shocked everyone seems even as we close out Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
We should be outraged.
Black femicide in this country is not new.
It is patterned, it is documented, and it has been allowed to persist in plain sight for generations. What you are witnessing now is not a sudden crisis. It is a long-standing failure to name, confront, and disrupt violence against Black women at its root.
This is not just about individual acts.
This is about relationship dynamics shaped by power and control. This is patriarchy. This is misogynoir. This is the afterlife of slavery showing up in how Black women’s lives are devalued, dismissed, and destroyed.
The question is no longer why this is happening.
The question is what are you doing about it.
Black men, what are you doing to interrupt harm in real time? What are you challenging in your circles, in your language, in your friendships? Silence is not neutrality. It is participation.
To everyone else watching, posting, grieving, and scrolling. Learn the dynamics. Learn how violence escalates. Learn what accountability actually looks like before it turns fatal. Support organizations doing this work every day, not just when headlines hit.
At SASHA Center, we have been doing this work in community, in real time, for years. The urgency may feel new to you, but it has never been new to us.
Now is the moment to act with clarity and courage.
Cause at this point, saying and doing are two different things. Join us on June 27th for a community gathering with our men. And definitely join us for our fundraiser next week. Denim Day- What we wear is not CONSENT!
This is more than an event… it’s a movement. 👖✨
Every stitch, every step, every story in this collage represents resilience, creativity, and purpose. From our powerful models to our visionary stylist architects and dope designers and the love poured into every behind-the-scenes moments, the Denim Carpet experience @313Cinnamon Rolls 💛this experience has been built with intention. We’re just getting started.
On Denim Day, we’re not just showcasing fashion.. we’re standing in support of survivors, amplifying voices, and turning art into advocacy.
🎟️ Seats are limited, and this is one you’ll feel, not just watch.
Come witness what happens when purpose meets the runway.
Come support. Come stand with us. Come be part of the story.
