I want to encourage someone today — including myself: KEEP GOING. Your journey is YOURS. Your path will look like YOURS.
When people critique me for not moving like everyone else, I laugh a little because as scary, beautiful, messy, unpredictable, loud, quirky, soft, hard, isolated at times, crowded, peaceful, and wonderful as this journey has been… it’s mine. ALL mine. And I wouldn’t trade it for anyone else’s.
I trust God’s plan for me and my path. I’m grateful for the journey this far — the smiles, tears, hurt, joy… all of it. Even while injured and currently in pain, I’m still grateful for everything God has allowed my mind and hands to create 🪡🙌🏽♥️. Looking forward to the creations to come!
Sometimes you truly have to step outside the race, onto a path unpaved, and trust the process. Sometimes the reward keeps giving and giving in ways you never expected.
And whew… did you notice the colors are similar between the old creations and the new ones? There was a story connecting them years apart 😭🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 God orchestrates things so beautifully.

For me, this is personal. I show up every year because I believe in creating space for survivors to be seen, heard, and supported—without judgment, without shame. Denim Day reminds us that what someone wears is NEVER an invitation or an excuse. Period.
What makes Detroit special is US. The way this city holds each other. The way we turn pain into power, stories into strength, and community into a safe place to land. Every year is intentionally curated—with love, with care, and with voices that deserve to be amplified.
