Wow, there are no words to describe the gratitude I feel right now (I think I am still processing!) I am absolutely floored by the turnout for our open day today, and incredibly honored by the level of support and enthusiasm people have shown for this little passion project of mine which has taken on a life of its own. And while I can take credit for laying the groundwork, the space that you see today is the culmination of creative passion from the many people involved in the makings of it: from the incredible designer Corinne, who took a very complicated (and ever evolving) brief of an accessible and purpose built art space, to our builder Lou Projects who have dedicated so much care and consideration into every square inch of the build.
And then there are the artists: those who have been so generous with their time and sharing of creative energy, who took the time to meet over coffee, to lend their opinions and ideas on the space, to look over the plans, or just simply sat and listened to my million and one questions. Kamispace is as much their vision as it is mine; the result of likeminded people coming together to dream.
A huge thank you to my family and friends who have shown up in different ways for me, both over the last year and today - so many loved ones have pitched in to help get things up and running, as well as volunteered their time today to help out, I am so endlessly grateful.
Kamispace, as it stands, is a 100% self-funded passion project, borne out of the belief that art belongs to everybody. I didn’t know that when I started it would resonate with so many people, but after today, I believe it more than ever. Thank you for being here.
And finally, the most important of all thank yous: to my boys, who have helped me heal my inner artist and child, and to my wonderful Mitch, for whom none of this would be possible.
For the dreamers, the poets, the makers, the storytellers, the whimsical and the free, the inner child lost and found, for art, artists and community: this is Kamispace.
Thank you. ❤️
Hi! 👋🏼
With our opening just around the corner, it feels like the right time for a proper introduction. Meet Sar Satria [@sarsatriaa ], founder, creative director & driving force of @kamispacecc .
Sar is an Indonesian-Australian creative director, photographer & artist who spent her former years in Indonesia, before making the move to Australia in young adulthood, eventually settling here on the Central Coast with her family.
Sar holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Media from UNSW School of Art and Design (formerly COFA) and is currently completing a Masters in Teaching, bringing both a deep creative practice and a genuine passion for art & arts education to everything she does. Sar also comes from generations of artists from her Indonesian side, an inheritance that has shaped her approach to living life through a creative lens.
Kamispace has been a passion project from the very beginning, influenced as much by the local artists Sar has befriended on this journey as well as by her own vision. As someone who is proudly neurodivergent, she has always felt the gap between art and accessible, welcoming art spaces, especially outside of larger metropolitan cities.
The vision of Kamispace is built on a belief that collective liberation begins through art, and the idea that creativity belongs to everyone.
Alongside Kamispace, Sar is the Creative Director and co-owner of @kamilabcreative , a visual branding studio she runs with her brother and Art Director Aditya.
Her most important job is being parent to her 2 kids, alongside her partner who, not so long ago, suggested they find a small commercial space that she could paint out of (and accidentally helped her start something wonderful).
That is the @kamispacecc story in a nutshell. Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.
