On Sunday, a group of fantastic @rwbrfc players completed the monumental challenge of running 7 half marathons in 7 consecutive days, the “7 in 7” challenge. They took on the challenge in support of Jamie, who at just 26 was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Through every mile, the 7 in 7 team helped raise vital awareness and funds to support Jamie and others affected by sarcoma. The team’s phenomenal effort is making a real difference, and we’re so grateful for their support. You can find out more about Jamie's story and support the team's challenge at @this.is.ewings #7in7Challenge #TeamSarcoma #SarcomaAwareness #RWB

On Friday, 60 employees from M Core and FMX took on a phenomenal challenge, walking a full marathon through London to raise funds for Sarcoma UK, after one of their colleagues was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Together, the team has already raised over £14,000 through challenges and fundraising events as part of their Charity of the Year partnership with Sarcoma UK. We’re hugely grateful for their support and determination in helping to fund vital research and support services, as well as much-needed awareness of sarcoma. A huge thank you to Steph and Lisa, who took on the Southampton Half Marathon for Sarcoma UK 🏃‍♀️ After the death of their friend Claire Lupton last year, they were determined to run in her memory. Claire lived with mesenchymal chondrosarcoma for over eight years and was a passionate advocate for the sarcoma community. Lisa described signing up as a “moment of madness,” unsure if she could complete the distance, but after losing Claire, she knew she had to do it, no matter how long it took. And they’re not stopping there, next up is the Lake District Ultra Challenge! We’re so grateful for their support 💙 Feeling inspired? Carey Lander’s story continues to mean a great deal to many people, more than 10 years after her death from osteosarcoma. As a member of @cameraobscuraband , and as someone who used her platform to raise awareness and funds after her diagnosis in 2011, Carey helped more people understand sarcoma and its impact. This June, Sarcoma UK is bringing Rare But Real to Glasgow: a community walk for everyone affected by sarcoma, and for anyone who wants to show their support. This is not a memorial event, but we know Carey’s connection with sarcoma will resonate with many Camera Obscura fans. We would be very glad to welcome anyone who would like to walk with us, support the event, or help spread the word. Last week, members of the Sarcoma UK team attended the 2026 SPAGN Conference in Sweden. This global event brought together sarcoma patient advocacy groups, oncologists, and healthcare professionals to share the latest advances in treatment and explore how we can better support everyone affected by sarcoma. The conference included discussions on the value of lived experience in research, awards recognising projects that demonstrated advocacy in action, and presentations on emerging therapies and clinical trials. There was also a powerful panel discussion between young people affected by sarcoma and clinicians involved in the care of teenagers and young adults. A strong theme throughout the conference was the importance of collaboration to create meaningful impact. Our team was also proud to present the work we’re doing at Sarcoma UK, highlighting the impact we’re making for patients, families, and the wider sarcoma community. Thank you to @sarcoma_patients for organising such an insightful and collaborative conference. Events like this are so important for uniting the sarcoma community and pushing change forward. #SPAGN2026 #SarcomaAwareness #SarcomaUK

Last year at our Community Day in Manchester, Nick Anderton shared his powerful sarcoma story. Former professional footballer Nick was diagnosed in 2022 with osteosarcoma in his right femur, leading to a full knee reconstruction and the replacement of 12 cm of bone, followed by intensive chemotherapy. In his honest and moving talk, he reflects on his diagnosis, treatment, and how he’s navigating life after sarcoma. You can watch Nick’s full talk, along with other sessions from our Sarcoma UK Community Days covering a range of sarcoma-related topics through the link in our bio. #SarcomaUK #SarcomaAwareness #SarcomaSupport

Sarcoma UK welcomes the Government’s decision to pause VAT charges on compassionate access medicines, a move that protects patients with rare and life-threatening cancers from losing access to vital treatments. For many, these schemes are the only way to receive life-extending drugs not yet available on the NHS. This pause is important, but more must be done to ensure these medicines are never subject to VAT.
