🚨 COACHING OPPORTUNITY 🚨
Senior Transition Coach @ Royal Wootton Bassett RFC
Royal Wootton Bassett RFC are seeking an ambitious, player-focused coach to support our Senior Transition Programme, a key role within our evolving four-team senior men's structure.
This is not just a 3rd XV coaching role.
It’s an opportunity to play a central part in developing players, embedding standards, and shaping the future of senior rugby at the club, working alongside an experienced and supportive senior coaching team.
The Role
You will help lead and develop the transition pathway across:
🏉 Colts → Senior Rugby
🏉 Development Squad → Competitive Senior Rugby
🏉 3rd XV → 2nd XV Progression
With a strong focus on:
✅ Player development
✅ Embedding playing structures and standards
✅ Supporting progression through the senior pathway
✅ Creating a positive, high-performance environment
You will be part of a collaborative coaching group, contributing to a shared game model and consistent approach across teams.
Unlike many clubs operating at this level, this programme is supported with a genuine player development infrastructure to help both players and coaches grow.
This would suit:
✔ Aspiring coaches looking to step into or progress within senior rugby
✔ Players transitioning out of playing into coaching
✔ Coaches who enjoy developing individuals and building pathways
✔ Individuals who value culture, standards, and long-term development
RFU qualifications preferred but not essential for the right person. Reasonable coaching expenses can be covered.
About Royal Wootton Bassett RFC:

🏉 2nd XV – Level 6
🏉 3rd XV – Level 8
🏉 4th XV – Level 9 Community & Development Rugby
We are a progressive club with excellent facilities, strong player retention, and a clear focus on long-term growth and development.

☀️ What a day at the Sausage & Cider Festival ☀️
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC yesterday for another fantastic Sausage & Cider Festival.
The sunshine brought out a massive crowd, creating a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day for the rugby, live music, food and cider. We’d especially like to thank everyone for their patience in the cider marquee queues when the demand for refreshments hit full festival levels! 🍺
On the pitch, the rugby certainly delivered:
👟 Our RWBRFC Walking Rugby Tournament was hugely enjoyed by players and spectators alike, creating a brilliant atmosphere to kick off the festival rugby.
🏆 Royal Wootton Bassett RFC President’s XV retained the McCue Cup with a 40–7 victory over REME.
🔥 Dorset & Wilts rounded off the afternoon with a 70–7 County Championship win over Berkshire.
Most importantly, thank you to the incredible volunteers, organisers, players, coaches, bar staff and supporters who helped make the event happen. Festivals like this are only possible thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers, who give up countless hours of their own time - completely unpaid - to organise, set up and run the event for the whole community to enjoy.
We hope everyone had a brilliant day, and we’ll see you all again next year. 🌭🍺🏉
Over the last 7 days, an incredible group of RWBRFC senior players have completed the “7 in 7” challenge: running seven half marathons in seven consecutive days in support of teammate Jamie Davison following his Ewing Sarcoma diagnosis earlier this year.
Yesterday’s final run finished at our Sausage & Cider Festival, bringing an emotional end to a week that perfectly showed what this rugby club is all about.
What these boys achieved goes far beyond the miles they covered. Every early morning, every sore leg and every step taken was for one of their own. The support shown throughout the week - from teammates, families, friends, supporters and the wider rugby community - has been nothing short of incredible.
This challenge has been a reminder that rugby clubs are about far more than what happens on the pitch. They’re about friendship, loyalty, support and standing shoulder to shoulder when it matters most.
We could not be prouder of every single person involved in “7 in 7”, and we thank everybody who donated, shared posts, joined runs or supported from afar. You have all played a part in something truly special.
Once Bassett, always Bassett 🖤🤍🖤🤍
