I’ve been sitting on this one for a while—this maternity shoot for
@xiaolindesign , created for a very dear friend in such a fleeting, powerful season of her life.
Motherhood has a way of sharpening your vision. I knew from the start I didn’t want this to feel like a “typical” maternity look—I wanted it to feel like her. Ethereal, womanly, intentional… the same language she designs in.
With a small window to build, the hair became a study in softness and structure. I layered five packs of hair into her already dense, long base to create something sculptural but weightless. Volume was built section by section using
@sexyhair Powder Play through the curl work, finished with light-reflecting movement from
@olaplex No.7 oil, and lifted all of the hair upward with a
@denmanpro mixed bristle brush to hold that airy expansion.
But more than anything, this was about being surrounded by women—by mothers, by artists, by friends—who show up for each other in these moments that matter. Captured so intentionally by
@sarakckane ( dreamy photographer at her studio
@sunshinecitystudios ) and brought to life with
@stefaniaglamour ( Mua extraordinaire) it felt less like a shoot and more like a reflection of care.
With Mother’s Day coming up, I’m still holding a lot. Some of it is very very heavy, some of it is beautiful—but all of it reminds me how deeply I value the women in my life who continue to show up, support, and trust me with their milestones.
