Architecture of domesticity presents a series of observations of Italian working class living through the lens of photography, exploring how residents transform standardized spaces into deeply personal landscapes through the spontaneous arrangement of everyday objects, woven within an entanglement of social, political, and visual narratives. And 2 essays!

Postmodernist Fire Station No. 4, Columbus, Indiana, by Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown (1966 â 1968)
Talking with the firefighters, we learned that:
â the building is slightly off everywhere: angles are not exactly 90 degrees, but more like 89, 91, 92
â two black glazed bricks on the facade do absolutely nothing; they are intentional, symbolic decoration, adding complexity, wit, and visual interest to a âsuper-ordinaryâ building (that detail is also present in the buildingâs sketches)

Miller House, Columbus, Indiana | Eero Saarinen, with Kevin Roche, Dan Kiley, and Alexander Girard (1957)
Fav details:
1 - THAT, detail
11 - Do you read what I read?
12 - I can think of three architects who would have solved that alignment better
13 - The base of that table is basically a vase and can be filled with water!
15 - Concealed wheel stops & concealed trash cans
16 - The Miller family owns stamp n.1 of the 2 million âLoveâ stamps designed by Robert Indiana
18 - A Monet and a Picasso, once owned by the family. The Monet sold for $80 million, sigh

Bernini e i Barberini, Palazzo Barberini, Rome, Spring 2026, curated by Andrea Bacchi & Maurizia Cicconi
[img 6] Busto di Costanza Bonarelli ~
Costanza Bonarelli was Berniniâs lover. When Bernini discovered she was also seeing his younger brother, Luigi, he lost control. He chased Luigi through the streets of Rome with a weapon, trying to kill him. At the same time, he sent a servant to Costanzaâs house to slash her face, effectively marking her for life.
Bernini was protected by the Pope and faced little consequence. Costanza, instead, was imprisoned for adultery.
After the scandal, Berniniâs powerful patron, Pope Urban VIII Barberini, pushed Bernini to settle down. He soon married and went on to have 11 children.
