Nhậu is being present, living in the moment, and enjoying the love of the company you keep. It’s the loud clanking of glass mugs filled with ice and Tiger beer. It’s the unapologetically loud laughter, and human connection. That energy is infectious, and it’s a reminder that we are alive. “The Pork Jowl” will be returning Friday, May 15th! Go visit Quán 999 📍26 Tran Quang Long Thanh My Tay Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Shout out @redboatfishsauce for bringing us all together!! 🇻🇳⛵️

🇻🇳🇵🇸OFFICIAL: OUR SIBLING IS ON BOARD AND ON THE WAY TO GAZA! Bảo Ngọc is one of the founding pillars of VietforPalestine - the first Vietnamese community dedicated to educating the public on the century-long Palestinian struggle against colonization and Zionism. Through infographics, offline solidarity events, and a space where a growing movement could find its footing, she has helped build something real and lasting. Her decision to join the Global Sumud Flotilla is not a departure from that work. It is its natural continuation. "Putting the body on the line" is not a slogan she borrowed, it is a principle drawn from the same anticolonial resistance that runs through Vietnamese history. She sails carrying that inheritance, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow Southeast Asian comrades whose peoples, too, once bled under colonial rule. Today, we sail as one toward Palestine, toward our brothers and sisters still fighting the war that never truly ended for the Global South. The fight against imperialism is ongoing. Palestine's fight is our fight. As the revolutionary Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani wrote: "Imperialism has laid its body over the world, the head in Eastern Asia, the heart in the Middle East, its arteries reaching Africa and Latin America. Wherever you strike it, you damage it, and you serve the World Revolution."

One of the most memorable nights I had in Vietnam was at a small restaurant called Quán 999, in Bình Thạnh. Sitting outside, with the heavy, sticky air on top of you; drinking Tiger beers over chunks of ice, and eating vú heo nướng chao. A plate of pork udders (we called them pig nipples 🙂‍↕️), marinated with fermented bean curd, lemongrass, and lime juice, sliced thin and charred over charcoal. It was served with grilled okra, which was surprisingly what made the dish for me. “Nhậu” was my favorite way to eat in Vietnam: grilled, salty food, ice-cold beer, and the energy you share with the people around you. I wanted to bring that feeling home with me, and taking inspiration from @clawsofmantis , we landed here: pork jowl, charred okra, lemon, fermented bean curd, peanut

sắp sửa means ‘about to be’ or ‘almost’. Ni said it should inspire us all to never be complacent, and always strive to be better than we were yesterday. I believe we should expect the same from our representatives (while eating delicious, locally-made treats)! #kirosforcongress #shoplocal

First and foremost, I want to thank my brother @oliverrrrrrrrrr and the entire @rudecatprd crew for helping to make Tềt such a special evening this year! Thank you, @capu_2021 , for joining us and for everything you do for our community. Thank you to all of our amazing friends @johnnydraco_ @olivemoya @woodyroseland @_gusrey @i_dont_know_seems_sketchy and @leilani.nobuko.derr who all donated art for the cause. And finally, @kdo.groove and @liamle for providing the soundtrack for the evening. Tềt is my absolute favorite holiday. Family and friends all come over, bringing food, Hennessy, and that chaotic energy all Vietnamese families have. Growing up, I would always gravitate towards my cool uncles. The ones with tattoos, gold watches, and throwing down $50 on cua. I looked up to them. On February 16th, I got to be the cool uncle. I saw kids standing proudly in their ao dai, slamming $10 (monopoly money) on nai, then losing, and they had to watch me take all their money. It was a glorious evening. Being in a room filled with the community, all dressed up, healed something in me. It brought me a sense of clarity. It showed me what owning a restaurant really means: Taking care of those around you, treating your family well, and showing your community that you stand wholeheartedly beside them, with your chest out and everything. This year, may the Fire Horse bring you peace, acceptance, and the courage to do what is necessary. 🔥🐎🧧🇻🇳 Camera: @woodyroseland and @saharfayazi Editor: @oliverrrrrrrrrr
