We spent the last three years listening to community, here is what we heard. We’re excited to release Anchoring Denver’s Little Saigon Community Preservation Study that includes robust findings and recommendations on how to preserve Little Saigon against anti-displacement pressures. Thank you to everyone who made this labor of love possible. What happened in Denver on Oct 31, 1880? A day of terror, not because of all hallow’s eve, but due to thousands of Denverites descending on the Chinatown to burn the largest ethnic enclave of its kind in the interior west. Take some time this Halloween to reflect on the history and observe October 31 as Denver’s Chinatown Commemoration Day. Keep an eye on @capu_2021 as we fight to reactivate this once vibrant cultural hub. Special thanks and credit to the Lung family, the Chin family, @metasarmiento , @denverlibrary and @therealcityofdenver Office of Storytelling. 🎬 Concept Trailer ✨Our documentary, “There’s a Lane for Us Here,” by @lionheartmotionworks traces Denver’s Little Saigon along Federal Blvd, a vibrant business district built by Vietnamese, Southeast, and East Asian refugees. While Little Saigons exist across the U.S., few films have centered them, despite their deep cultural and historical impact.   As we recognize National Immigrant Heritage Month this June, we’re proud to share a story that honors the fortitude, legacy, and collective memories of our immigrant communities.   Through business owners and families in the district, we look at how memory is kept alive, not just through spaces like storefronts and markets, but through people, traditions, and community.   As the immigrant generation ages and the neighborhood faces change, we ask: how do we carry these memories forward? As landscapes shift and history fades, preservation goes beyond protecting infrastructure. It is also rooted in the act of remembering. This film invites you to stroll down a memory lane we must collectively preserve.   ✨ THE TEAM ✨ 🎬Director, DP: @hannahtrance 🎥Cinematography: @hannahtrance @dougalbrownlie 🎙️Sound: @vicky_vien_ ✂️Editors: @hannahtrance @dougalbrownlie 🎨Graphic Artist: @millie_d_mac 💡Gaffers: @dougalbrownlie @daniel.gchoi @hannahtrance 🤝Community Partners: @capu_2021 @historycolorado 📸Photography: @andrewtat_ @dougalbrownlie 📹Vietnam Videographer: @eforbesy31 🛸Drone Operator: @john.cline.photo 🎶Film Score Composer: @composerjulie 🎵Music Supervisor: jk_music_hunter 💻Outreach & Digital Coordinator: Janelle Dam 🎼Trailer Music: Spearfisher 👉 Follow: @lionheartmotionworks to stay updated + link in bio to Subscribe & Support 💸 LaneForUsFilm.com

Denver has done this before. In 1967, the Skyline Urban Renewal Project razed 20+ downtown blocks and nearly erased Japantown entirely. The Japanese American community bought the land themselves and built Sakura Square to survive. One block — 19th and Lawrence — is still standing. Still hosting Cherry Blossom Festival. Still fighting. Now the same pressure is on Federal Boulevard. Asia Center. Little Saigon. 14,000+ of you signed to protect it. @rmpbs @denverite @denverpost is now covering what this community built together. These are not separate stories. Denver keeps asking its Asian communities to fight for the right to exist in the city they built. Community voice has to come first — before the plans are drawn, not after. Swipe through. Then pick one thing this week. 📌 Donate to the Little Saigon Fund → tinyurl.com/denverlittlesaigonfund 📌 See Big Dreams in Denver's Little Saigon @historycolorado → closes Oct 2026 📌 Listen to 36 oral histories → historycolorado.org/little-saigon-memory-project 📌 Support Sakura Square @sakurafoundation → Cherry Blossom Festival June 27–28 📌 Get involved with the @capu_2021 advisory board → [email protected] 📌 Visit the Asia Center. American Heirlooms: AAPI Mixtape Artist Announcement 📢 Jett Kwong is a vocalist, guzheng player, composer, and producer. Her combination of the Chinese guzheng, expressive vocal melodies, strings, and poetic songwriting transports the listener into dreamy soundscapes deemed “ a balm to the spirit” (NPR). A melding of languages and cultures largely inspired by her mixed heritage is bolstered by orchestral arrangements and an alt-pop sensibility. Jett was the recipient of the 2019 Kollaboration award and her live performance of “Ficelle” was featured on NPR’s Top Shelf. Check out our page for the rest of the mixtape tracks. AAPI Mixtape is an evening of music celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander contributions to arts and culture cohosted by @dazzle_denver @japaneseartsnetwork and @capu_2021 check out info and tickets at the link in bio or dazzledenver.com
