If you’ve been to SAP Space, you’d have met Milo — for whom being apex predator and Casanova wasn’t a contradiction at all. Yesterday, with heavy hearts, we sent Milo onward to his next journey. Needless to say, we’ll miss him sorely. The garden, however, always reminds us that the many non-human companions we coexist with are more in tune with the rhythms of nature, its ebbs and flows. Come Spring, we’ll plant something for milo, the king of this little jungle. 🌱

OPENING TONIGHT in Mexico City at El Hub (Calle de Mesones 86, Centro Histórico de la Cdad. de México) . LOOSE GROUND — works by Sebastian Acker, Patricia Detmering, Nadja Verena Marcin, & Ilyn Wong. Loose Ground plays on the slip between “loose” and “losing.” The four video works gathered here move through states of disorientation—losing touch with the ground, the horizon, with knowable history, with materiality itself. They circle moments when footing is uncertain and perception tilts, when what anchors us shifts, dissolves, or indeed, loosens. The ground remains literal too—the matter beneath us, excavated, handled, and reimagined. Together, the works trace a terrain where stability falters, where gravity wavers and ground turns loose. . B-LA-M is a three year art exchange created to deepen the relationships between the independent art scenes of Berlin, Los Angeles & Mexico City.

SAP Space will be taking part in two exhibitions coming up in the @b_la_m_ Festival in Mexico City this week. . “Loose Ground” is a self-organized video screening of four artworks by Nadja Verena Marcin, Sebastian Acker, Patricia Detmering, and Ilyn Wong. . B-LA-M Festival: Loose Ground Oct 23–26, 2025 | Mexico City | Group Exhibition "Zero Gravity" (2013) will be on view in "Loose Ground" at SAP Space @sapspace.berlin hosted by El Hub MX in Mexico City as part of @b_la_m_ . In this work, the artist experiences real physical weightlessness aboard a 1979 Rockwell Commander while reciting Nietzsche’s The Madman: “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.” Suspended between elation and existential descent, the piece situates the body in a metaphysical space between life and death, art and science, the human and the divine. "Loose Ground" brings together four video works exploring moments when perception slips and stability falters—when what anchors us begins to move. Featuring works by Sebastian Acker @sebastianacker , Patricia Detmering @patricia_detmering , Nadja Verena Marcin, and Ilyn Wong @ilynw . ✨ About B-LA-M: A three-year art exchange connecting Berlin, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Mexico City hosts collectives from Berlin & LA this fall, with city-wide exhibitions, screenings, performances, readings, tours, and more. Los Angeles will host Mexico City & Berlin in 2026. 🔗 Read more under linktree in bio #BLAMFestival #LooseGround #ZeroGravity #ContemporaryArt #VideoArt #ArtExhibition #MexicoCityArt #BerlinArt #LosAngelesArt #ArtExchange #InterdisciplinaryArt #PhilosophyInArt #ArtAndScience #ArtCollectors

Last month, SAP Space had the pleasure of participating in @juxtaposeartfair in Aarhus. It was a really special experience to convene with so many other artists run spaces, and to meet the lovely and generous organizers and participants. The presentation at Juxtapose brings the garden literally into the expansive exhibition space of Rå Hal in Aarhus, positioning it not only as a boundaried site of display but also as a reminder that the garden is always, in some sense, a fiction — a constructed reference to nature or wilderness shaped by human hands. In this way, the garden becomes a speculative space: a site of intervention and projection, where desires, utopias, and memories are cultivated as deliberately as the plants themselves. Presenting artists: Sebastian Acker @sebastianacker Liz Dawson @lizdawsonberlin Tiziana Krüger @tiziana.kruger Sarah Umles @imjects_and_obages Ilyn Wong @ilynw This was our last event before going on parental leave. SAP Space is currently undergoing a little re-organization, with the aim to become a more collective organization. Reach out if you want to learn more about our re-org. Otherwise, see you all on the flip side! 🥰

Showing these paintings by @lizdawsonberlin at @juxtaposeartfair , which opens tomorrow! Liz Dawson (b. 1975, Stockport, UK) makes paintings based on small-scale paper models that she builds in her studio. This allows her to create very specific subject matter in terms of shape, colour, texture and lighting, while providing only limited information on the scale, context and possible usage of the objects depicted. Currently, she takes elements from maps or diagrams as her starting point. She enjoys the way their visual language can oscillate between abstract symbol and realistic depiction. This involves a back and forth between the two and three dimensional, detaching the imagery from the countable, the measurable and the functional. #juxtapose #juxtaposeartfair #aarhus #lizdawson #sapspace

Tiziana Krüger imitations, position I–VIII 2022 shrinking tube, PVC, concrete 180 – 250 cm - Presenting Tiziana’s work as part of @juxtaposeartfair this weekend. Swing by if you’re in #aarhus - Imitations is an installation whose components appear at first glance to be massive, enlarged versions of thorn plants. In their original state, the thorns on the branches of the plants serve as protection against predators. As dense undergrowth, the plants create natural barriers in the landscape, making certain areas inaccessible and thus providing shelter for smaller organisms. However, when transformed into man-made, malleable material, they lose these properties. They become objects consisting of a fine, elastic skin with cavities inside. What remains are empty shells of synthetics that provide a shaded imitation of a landscape while a silhouette of their defensive properties is preserved. Sebastian Acker, Irrigation, 2023 . A photographic series taken on the island of Fuerteventura, where much of the plant life relies on desalinated seawater and imported infrastructure. Curving across volcanic soil, black plastic hoses form a quiet choreography—winding, looping, dividing—creating not just function, but form. A visible system of both control and care. For Acker, this infrastructure becomes a sculptural presence that reveals our mediated relationship with nature. . These photographs will be presented at the upcoming @juxtaposeartfair . #SebastianAcker #UnlearningNature #Irrigation #ContemporaryArt #Fuerteventura #ArtAndEcology #UnlearningNature #Juxtapose

Sarah Umles (@imjects_and_obages ) is one of the artists that we’ll be bringing to Aarhus for Juxtapose (@juxtaposeartfair ). Sarah is a queer-femme artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. Her multimodal practice materializes as installations of sculpture, sound/video, text, and photography; performances rooted in ancestral ritual; and relational artworks. Through intimate narrative, critical inquiry, and the confrontation of hushed subjects, Umles explores themes of loss, grief, legacy, and memory, both on a deeply personal level and at the scale of global, ecological collapse.
