Friday March 20th 2026.
First day of Spring.
A light mist and drizzle filled the air. The kind lazy, cozy, stay in your pj’s type weather. Calming and tranquil. Full of potential and growth. Sadly, it was also a day We knew for some time would come, the day we would have to say our farewell and bon voyage into the next journey. Even facing such uncertainty, you slowly raised your eyes and furry burnt orange eyebrows to me with excitement and love as you’ve always done time and time again. Only this time, I came to you. To you there were no bad days, especially when it was time to load the dishwasher. Certainly there’s alot we can learn from and take from the book of George. Keep it simple, take your time, and enjoy the present moment. It’s doesn’t get much better than a nice walk in the woods to find the perfect stick, a friend by your side and napping in a shaft of sunlight.
You taught me the art of unqualified love. How to give it, how to accept it. Where there is that, most other pieces fall into place. Even in the midst of growing older and achy, you taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, you taught me about selflessness and loyalty. “Give him your heart and he will give you his”. And you gave us yours everyday for 13 years.

You were the Goose to my Maverick. A once in a lifetime companion. Fare thee well, I’ll miss you more than words can tell.
