About: Chesas da Cultura Engiadina is an association of 19 cultural institutions spanning from Maloja to Zuoz, and from Samedan to Pontresina. These include museums and studios, libraries and archives, galleries and exhibition spaces, all representing the diverse culture of the Upper Engadine. Whether it be art or language, architecture or philosophy, food, mountaineering, or sport, these houses preserve a wide spectrum of the region’s cultural history and present it to both locals and visitors through exhibitions and numerous events.
Together, they organize exhibitions, including the 2024/2025 exhibition titled Splendur e Sumbriva – Light and Shadow in the Engadin. Each institution brings its unique focus to the exhibition – from sunglasses to windows, from alpine light phenomena to spa design, from literary interpretations of light to the magic of light in darkness, from digital immersion to the analog play of light and shadow, from the sun to the natural and artificial light of night. This collaboration not only serves to network these cultural centers but also provides locals, guests, and visitors with easy access to the fascinating facets of Engadine culture.
