Introducing Samuel Haitz, born 1997, finalist in the Art category. Based in Zurich, the artist develops a practice across sculpture, installation and text, where personal memories intersect with broader cultural and historical narratives. Drawing on processes of appropriation, repetition and layering, his work engages references from art, literature and poetry to explore the mechanisms of desire and their impact on form and identity. Moving between the intimate and the collective, his compositions reveal a tension between the everyday and the constructed, opening spaces where meaning remains fluid, partial and continuously shifting. © Images Portrait: © Emilio Azevedo 1: Limerence, 2024, from Having a Coke with You (2019–ongoing), Cherry Coke cans, Photo: Julian Blum, Courtesy: GROTTO, Berlin 2: Hermeneutics, Installation view, Triangolo, Cremona (IT), Photo: Julian Blum, Courtesy: Triangolo, Cremona 3: Anthology (Der männliche Akt, p. 161), 2025, Archival glue on C-print mounted on alu-dibond, framed, Photo: Julian Blum, Courtesy: Triangolo, Cremona #SwissArtAwards #HaitzSamuel #SwissContemporaryArt #SwissArt #SAAFinalist @samuelhaitz Swiss Art Awards 16–21 June 2026 Halle 1.1, Basel Design: @clioham @clemenspiontek

The Column #2 | Samuel Haitz | Equilibrium opens Saturday 21st February from 3PM at Giselle’s Books (Korsec) „I just made a show of rephotographed pages from a magazine I bought at a second-hand bookstore in Brussels. I got a few publications there, each cost around 10 euros. All of them were sealed in plastic, so I could only base my decision on the cover and back. The edition for Giselle’s is a reproduction of the back cover of the magazine I used as source material for my exhibition at Pech in Vienna. On it, two male models are depicted in perfect equilibrium. This material feeds a very specific kind of desire: one that never leaves the realm of fantasy. The most exciting thing is not doing it.“ — Samuel Haitz Image: Samuel Haitz, Equilibrium (detail), 2026
