Backstage at The Slipper Room 🎀
Huge thank you to these incredible performers and to Peter Peter for welcoming me into their space. I’ve always loved variety shows, and this felt like the perfect passion project, documenting the behind-the-scenes world of burlesque. More often than not, we focus on what’s right in front of us and forget to recognize the art unfolding backstage.
Thank you again to these talented performers, you guys are amazing! 🫶🏻

Terry Singh was born in Guyana and raised in New York during the late ’70s disco era, where everyone lived a life of freedom, polyester, and shininess in a decrepit city. He remembers the city’s chaos and decay as heaven, purely because it reunited him with his mother. That sense of duality, grit and magic, with restriction and freedom ran through his journey into fashion. From his early days of printing and advertising, where he viewed polished suits as “shiny suits of armor,” to years of exploration in India that inspired his signature wrap garment, his work challenges the history of men’s clothing as symbols of conformity and war. Over the past decade, he has made his clothing free of restraint, offering men freedom of movement and expression. His designs, born from lived experience and constant questioning, are about reshaping what it means to dress, live, and stand in your own truth.
Huge thank you to Terry for letting me photograph him and talk about his journey with him in his gorgeous space 🩷
