I’m glad to be back in the Netherlands after my exchange to study Audio Design, but looking back, I can clearly see what I’ll miss about Berlin. The city constantly surprised me and was an endless source of creative inspiration. Some parts felt frozen in time, where the past wasn’t hidden but openly embraced. This is a reminder of mistakes that shouldn’t be repeated and shows what is timeless: our need to express ourselves and share our feelings, not just for ourselves, but to inspire new ideas and create a movement.
Even in its rawness and rough moments, there was a charm. Berlin didn’t try to hide anything, and honest expression was everywhere, in protests, the way people dressed, strict door policies, and bold graffiti covering entire buildings. I’m sure many people feel the same, but I wanted to share it because it made a big impact on me and am very grateful for the chance to have lived and studied there for a while. Auf Wiedersehen!
Three years ago, at the beginning of summer, Wander and I had a chat with each other over the phone and we both expressed our strong desire to go all in on a career in music. It was incredible to find we had developed the exact same dream! We spent hours and hours together, learning how to work with Ableton and how to DJ.
I’m amazed how far we’ve come. Today, we’re both studying at music schools and tomorrow, we’re playing our first back-to-back hybrid set in our hometown Delft.
Turbine Vol.5 runs on the 7th of September from 16:00 to 04:00, featuring an awesome lineup of many talented artists and DJs, so we would love for you to join us for this special night!
