next of the Black Magic Rodeo Residents is LA’s own Samone Kidane. a photographer with equal parts fine arts & commercial experience, Samone’s work often showcases the significance of color and intimacy. the wonderful part about welcoming someone like Samone into the residency was seeing her process of shooting in action.
you see, Samone’s work is striking, and seldomly shared. she’s among the cohort of talented artists who spend time sitting with their works intentionally, delighting in their execution rather than always trying to share them with the world. it’s been a point of emphasis to provide opportunities for people who tend to ruminate on their personal work to share their artistry in a way that doesn’t go against their process.
each participant has a unique eye, and contrary to certain perceptions of photographers, most people don’t see them at work. for the
@blackimagecenter co-founder to experience their first rodeo and put their eye to the test in community with others was a privilege to bare witness to.
Samone Kidane. another day closer to the rodeo. many thanks to
@karenlynnekuban @boleyoklahoma for the amazing opportunity!
