In a time where traditional gallery spaces fall back to the earth, we have sown new methods to share and grow together. We invite you to gather in the Slow Forest to explore art, imagination and liberation. Announcing “Heirlooms”, an artist-led, land-based exhibition transforming the forest into a site of memory, resistance, and imagination. Taking place on September 7, 2025, this inaugural gathering reclaims nature as both sanctuary and stage—bringing together artists, activists, and audiences for a full day of participatory artworks, performances, workshops, and rituals rooted in ecological restoration and cultural healing. Co-curated by New York-based gallery Ward co-founders, Gabrielle Richardson and Saam Niami - the exhibition highlights practices that bridge climate, liberation, and more-than-human connection. For this first show, Richardson and Niami in collaboration with Slow Factory chose to gather artists concerned primarily with movement, community-histories, and environmental preservation and documentation. These artists include sculptor Carlos Agredano @homeboysdontcry , textile artist Cassandra Mayella Allen @cassandramayelallen , and cyanotype artist Praise Fuller @cvsreceipt . Their work will be shown long-term in the forest along side the work of Vivien Sansour @vivien.sansour of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library, botanical textile artist Cara Marie Piazza @caramariepiazza , and culinary experience by Nadia Irshaid Gilbert @nadiadiaspora with programming and performances from other impactful artists being held throughout the shows run.

Last year I opened an art gallery with my best friend, and now I get to announce the rebirth of what was once 25 Allen St. as Ward Gallery NYC. Named after my late mother Chanel Ward-Richardson She’s the woman who always believed in me, who, when I told her I wanted to open an art gallery, never asked why and always asked when. She’s the woman who, I know, is somewhere greater, still believing in me 🤍 Thank you @saam.niami for being my partner in crime and for suggesting the name change before I ever even had to ask. Thank you @dylanrose_rheingold for being the inaugural artist in our new space, for working alongside us to develop this beautiful show, and for trusting us with your work. Happy Mothers Day Can’t wait to see you all May 16th at @wardgallerynyc Thank you to our wonderful teammate @sascha_ray for this beautiful flyer and special thanks to @posh.vip

Astrid Terrazas @killyridols (b. 1996) is a ceramicist and painter creating symbolic work that rewrites worlds. Born in Juarez, Mexico. Terrazas work is informed by her early years living on the US-Mexico border, and interrogates the concept of borders as something not only physical but psychological; equally vague, fluid, and in a constant stage of transition. Come see “The Parasitic Shape-Shifter” and more of Terrazas work on view with @wardgallerynyc at booth D6 at the inaugural Conductor Art Fair in New York City from April 29th to May 3rd at @powerhouse_arts . Produced by @wardgallerynyc @chloevero @saam.niami @fridacashflow
