I applied myself this year!!
Since 2018 I’ve tried to make no more than 5 music videos a year. This year I made 20 without any presets, luts, generative ai or asset packs used whatsoever. I pitched & accepted several ideas I had no experience with & forced myself to learn like some kind of geeky nerd.
Very proud of the work I did this year, but way more grateful for everyone that let me run with ideas & experiment, all the crew/talent I was able to collaborate with, and the labels/managers looking out for me this year. What used to be a mundane process of making the same video over and over now feels like I’m getting short films funded with an unprecedented amount of creative trust. I get to use every project to frantically learn a new skill. I feel valued for making something different every time, which seems rare and unlikely these days.
It was definitely an unsustainable bootcamp of a year– 26 hour days all year with absurd deadlines. I won’t be directing this many projects next year, but I’m excited to make the best art I can in 2026 and I think I can get so much better!
