« If you go further, you will see more. » 🏔️ Nos deux semaines aux côtés de Sami Sauri touchent à leur fin. Entre gravel, ultra, place des femmes dans le vélo et créativité, Sami nous a plongés dans un univers où l'effort n'est qu'un prétexte à l'émerveillement. Sur le cairn de Jusqu’au Sommet, Sami dépose une phrase qui l'a guidée sur les épreuves les plus dures du monde : « If you go further, you will see more ». Au départ, elle pensait que l'idée d'un mantra était un peu "bullshit". Finalement, ces quelques mots l'ont portée plus loin qu'elle ne l'aurait imaginé. C’est un équilibre parfait entre sa quête de performance et son œil de photographe : s'entraîner dur pour être à l'aise physiquement, non pas pour battre les autres, mais pour avoir la liberté d'observer ce qui l’entoure. Parce qu'aller plus loin, c'est comprendre que dans l'effort, comme dans la vie, la curiosité est la meilleure alliée de la persévérance. The Traka. This photo is from 2019, a three wooden frame and a little panel that said traka (still conserved on the venue in case you wonder) we started the journey of what’s going to become the biggest event in European gravel. Nobody at that time knew that it was going to happen like it did, it was going to become so big, it was going to be a thing. Together with Unbound they are currently the biggest events by far in Gravel. For those who don’t know Klassmark is an organizer who has trail running, used to have MTB events and now gravel events across Spain and the new introduction this year, by Traka across other countries. I’ve known Cristina and Gerard for a long time, and I tell you they work hard for this.  I normally don’t do this kind a post, but this matters to me scroll to keep reading 🫶🏼

« Si je presse ça, c’est fini, terminé. » ⛰️ Sami Sauri nous raconte ce moment d’immense frayeur. À 3 heures du matin, en pleine montagne au Kyrgyzstan, elle se retrouve coincée jusqu’à la hanche dans un marécage, seule au milieu de nulle part. C'est ce point précis où la fatigue extrême rencontre la panique. Actionner le bouton SOS ou trouver une solution ? Utiliser son vélo comme une plateforme pour ramper vers une zone stable, c’est là que l'instinct de survie est à son maximum. Cela fait réfléchir à nos propres limites. Souvent, quand on pense avoir tout essayé, il reste encore une petite étincelle pour transformer un désastre en une leçon de résilience. #UltraCycling #MentalDeAcier #SamiSauri #AventureExtrême #Resilience

Today felt like an ultra by car - a show is a show and it kept delivering, just like on a theater but without falling asleep. Gravel has still a lot to learn, I guess that’s the resume of the weekend. . #thetraka

Sara goes Ultra Ep. 3 In this episode, it’s not just about preparing your body for an ultra — it’s about getting your bike ready, too. As it turns out, @cafedebedstee isn’t exactly the most diligent when it comes to keeping her drivetrain clean and dialed… so @samisauri had a few important things to point out. „Okay confession time: I’ve basically never properly cleaned or fixed anything on my bike. Tell me I’m not the only one…..?! There must be more cycling queening slayerssss out there who just love riding and don’t really care about all the technical stuff. And honestly… that’s fine……Until it isn’t … Apparently a clean chain = more watts? That’s what Sami told me hehe Also, in Morocco I oiled my chain with olive oil, that isn’t really smart I can tell you… I was going insane from the noise, some guys from a bar were like “we can help you”, and I just trusted them. The result was: a quiet chain for 5 minutes, then everything turned into one big sticky mess and it still is. Maybe it’s time I start taking care of my bike… or at least stop feeding it kitchen ingredients.“ Up next: things get practical.
