At Mt Gravatt Community Centre, visual artist Sam Harrison (Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri) collaborated with locals through a series of free creative workshops exploring unity, diversity and storytelling — resulting in a vibrant artwork that now lives proudly at the Centre. In 2025, Brisbane Festival’s Neighbourhood Centres Program continued our commitment to making the arts accessible to all Brisbanites, connecting local artists with neighbourhood centres across the city. The final artwork at Mt Gravatt Community Centre is a charming example of placemaking — created by the community, for the community. Through storytelling and shared creativity, Sam Harrison’s workshops brought people and the result is joyous.  The Neighbourhood Centre Program is funded and supported by the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.
