“I love your snake” - @derrenbrown

Many years ago I was fortunate enough to end up on stage with Derren Brown during his ‘Undergound’ UK show. I had to draw a snake, and so, in my childishly elaborate way quickly sketched a cartoon snake - googly eyes and all. Cheekily, I signed it. During the show Derren saw the drawing, laughed, and simply said, “I love your snake. Oh and you’ve signed it - bit arrogant.” We all laughed.

Fast forward to yesterday and I had the absolute pleasure to see Derren again at @magiccirclehq at a fantastic book signing event ran by @themagicianspodcast

What was crazy, is that Derren recognised me (rather humbling) as he signed the book, the photos are his reaction to remembering the above plus a little bit of acting 🤣 after all, we are performers! I’m lucky enough to be one of only 300 people Worldwide to own his deluxe collectors edition of his new book.

Needless to say, Derren has set a bar us performers all aspire to, he’s a living legend of the profession, and someone who maybe one day I may get to work with (got to have a dream)! Next time I’ll show him @solosfx 😂😂

I had an incredible time the last few days performing at the @thecuriouscabaret in Beeston, Nottingham & Lincoln 🤩
Having not performed a public show in a little while it was so refreshing to step on stage alongside my good friends @pickpocketforhire & @chriswildermagic as well as make a brand new friend in mind reader @alexthemindreader (who is touring atm and you SHOULD definitely get tickets) 🎟️!
Three incredible shows, with 3 completely new routines for me that have been in my head for years and so to finally see them come to life and be so well received was an absolute joy 🎉😍
Maybe I should do a full 90 minute show… What do people think? Let me know so I don’t book Wembley too soon 😂😂😂

The Day 1 Awards Evening at the Shared Services Forum UK Annual Conference was one of those nights where the cathedral seemed to transform the moment the lights came up. One second it was conference mode, the next it looked like the set of a glam TV show, complete with gold chairs, glowing screens and more sparkle than a jewellery counter in December.
Guests arrived dressed to the nines, laughing their way across the gold backdrop and posing with the kind of confidence you only get when the prosecco has just started to kick in. Once everyone settled at their tables, the whole space filled with that excited hum you only get before a big celebration. Table names, wine chilling, cutlery shining like it had been polished by tiny award-show elves… the whole set up looked incredible.
The ceremony itself was full of cheers, surprise wins and plenty of proud faces. Seeing this many brilliant people lined up on stage, holding awards and grinning like they had just won Eurovision, was a joy to photograph. Cheeky Chilli kept everyone fed, the entertainment kept everyone dancing and even the inflatable guitars made an appearance. Some guests took their rock star roles very seriously, which we fully support.
Nights like this are always such a treat to capture. The energy, the laughter, the small moments between the big ones, it all tells the story of teams who work hard and celebrate even harder.

Day two of the Shared Services Forum UK Annual Conference at Chester Cathedral came in strong. Again, the coffee was flowing, the energy was high and the speakers absolutely lit up the room. Holly Matthews and Steve Backshall delivered the kind of inspirational talks that make you sit up a little straighter and think, alright then, maybe I can take on the world after lunch. Both brought so much heart, honesty and humour, which made photographing those moments an absolute treat.
From powerful talks to buzzing breakout sessions, day two had a real spark. Chester Cathedral was glowing again, doing its dramatic thing in the background like the most extra event venue you could ask for.
Huge thank you again to Lyndsey and Alex at Shared Services for another brilliant day, and to everyone who laughed, learned and let us hover around capturing it all.

Day one of the Shared Services Forum UK Annual Conference at Chester Cathedral and wow, what a venue. Photographing a full day of speakers and a whole lot of caffeine fuelled note taking inside one of the most beautiful buildings in the country felt pretty special. Chester Cathedral knows how to make an entrance, even when the entrance is a conference badge.
