1503WHP on the 8280. 🚀
I’m officially shaking down the setup, and it’s a beast. Huge shoutout to
@turbosmarthq and
@brendan_turbosmart for sending over the 8280 to test, and
@klmrace for the Savage turbo kit that ties this whole build together. Running the 8280 with the new Pro cover and the divided T4 1.15AR housing, the response on this 80mm unit is just wild.
Looking at the dyno graph, the curve is absolutely beefy. We’re seeing full torque right before 5k, which is massive for a car sitting in the 1500hp territory, and it just holds power all the way to redline. I was previously running a PTE 7480; the turbo was great, but it maxed out exactly where it was rated at 1385whp. I wanted more, and the 8280 showed up at the perfect time. I lost about 400-500 RPM of spool (totally normal for this size of turbo), but gained a solid 120whp on the top end. Honestly, the car doesn't feel laggy at all,the response is still incredibly snappy.
I’m impressed with how the
@rvng_raceworks 4.5" catback has held up, it sounds incredible and has handled more power than most builds will ever see. At this level, we’re pushing into territory where most guys are running an open dump or cutout to manage backpressure. I suspect we’re hitting a bottleneck there, so I’m going to add a cutout to the current setup and see how much more power we can unlock once we free up that flow.
The car is dialed in perfectly,the
@puredrivetrainsolutions Stage 3 transmission is holding this power incredibly well, and the street shifts are crisp. on top of that, the
@protuningfreaks Rev2 board is doing a stellar job ;) it’s controlling the car in such a smooth, refined way.
I’m currently in the testing phase, collecting data and dialing the car in. This is just the beginning; I’m already prepping for an even bigger turbo for the next round of testing. I’ll also be focusing on the traction setup to make sure we can put all this power down to the track asphalt safely and effectively. We’re gunning for track records. 🏁
