Day 13 (running a little behind, but right on time to celebrate this one 🎨)
This year we’re celebrating our collaboration with the
@panterbros - a project born out of love for Blackpool and frustration at how negatively the town is so often portrayed.
Blackpool carries the weight of many social challenges, and one of the most visible is the decline of property caused by absent or irresponsible landlords. While there isn’t always a great deal we can directly change, it deeply affects local residents and the way people feel about the place they call home.
That frustration is what inspired
@samdbelle to team up with local graffiti artists Will and James Panter to create
@coastalcolourclub a concept rooted in bringing the gallery to the street. We all know art has the power to improve lives, and colour has the power to lift spirits.
With the support of local councillors who have fully embraced the injection of colour into their wards, coastal colour club celebrates making art accessible to everyone.
“not everyone feels welcome in an art gallery but that shouldn’t mean they can’t experience art- it’s a basic human experience. Blackpool has incredible local talent, and i’m excited to see them given a canvas to share their skills and bring more joy to our communities,” said
@samdbelle .
Sam and the Panter bros go way back, first meeting in 2006 through FY Westcoast (now house of wingz). United by hip hop culture, expression and community, they’re now focused on securing murals across the town and working with local people to reflect neighbourhood voices through public art.
this is just the beginning so stay tuned 🎨
