After last night’s blackout, the spotlight is back on @hclaytonwright and the cast for tonight’s performance of Mr Blackpool 🔦 We caught up with Harry in his dressing room, where he was keen to address some of the rumours that have been swirling around about the nature of last night’s power outage… We can’t wait to welcome you to Attenborough Centre for the show this evening and tomorrow, Saturday 9 May. Our ACCA Cafe bar will be open and serving drinks from 7pm. Anyone affected by the cancellation of last night’s performance can exchange your ticket(s) for either tonight or tomorrow’s performance, or request a full refund. Please contact either the Attenborough Centre or @BrightonFestival box offices, depending on where you bought your tickets from. For those coming tonight or tomorrow, we’ll see you soon for a very special show. Tickets are still available, book now at the link in our bio ✨

"We need more theatre like this" Audiences at @batterseaartscentre loved Second Trimester and we can't wait for it to hit Attenborough Centre this Monday 11 May for one very special performance as part of @brightonfestival . In Second Trimester, trans performance artist @krishnaistha and his mother, Geetha Shankar, confront pregnancy, loss, gender, and the weight of inherited memories. Using cameras, projections and a bespoke coded interface built for the show, Geetha and Krishna make live choices each night together, constructing a cinematic, Bollywood-inspired epic family saga. Book now at the link in our bio.

Are you ready to witness an endearing relationship that will leave you feeling cherished? Meet mother and child, @krishnaistha & Geetha Shankar, who are bringing Second Trimester to @BrightonFestival next week! Second Trimester is a performance exploring how four years ago, Krishna told his mum he was trying to get pregnant and she freaked out. Like, massively freaked out. Krishna didn’t know why. It’s rare for a fight between them to end in tears. But this one did. . . and for good reason. Love triangles. Missing people. A pregnant son. A show you don't want to miss. 📆 Monday 11 May ⏰ 7:15pm 📍@attenboroughctr 🎟️ From £12. Book today, visit brightonfestival.org for more information or head to the link in bio. A Making Waves Major Commission by Battersea Arts Centre. Made possible with funding by Arts Council England and Cockayne 10th Anniversary Grants for the Arts. Additionally Commissioned by Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Cambridge Junction, The Lowry, Marlborough Productions, SICK! Festival, Unlimited.

What can audiences expect from Mr Blackpool? 🤔 With just a week to go until opening night, we asked @hclaytonwright what delights await attendees of his theatrical extravaganza. Expect cabaret, magic, dance, drag and pyro. This is cultural archaeology and satire at its campiest, presented in lurid technicolor 🌈 Book tickets now at the link in our bio. Presented in partnership with @marlboroughproductions Interview by @sussexunimah student @Ronni.arrowsmith in the ACCA cafe. Second Trimester by @krishnaistha and his mother, Geetha Shankar, is a tale of two generations and endless drama. In a break from rehearsals, Krishna and Geetha risked more intergenerational conflict when they played a game of 'Most likely to...' but ended up giving us a glimpse of the beautiful bond between the two that is apparent on stage. Catch them both at Attenborough Centre on Monday 11 May as part of @brightonfestival 🎥@shayshayshow

A couple of weeks ago I stood on this beautiful stage at @attenboroughctr and asked over 600 people to criticise our work. Not because we don’t believe in it. But because we hold a deep belief that everyone is an artist. A deep belief in the power of co-creation. Through our work at @brightonpeoplestheatre we build cultural power and develop creative agency. Particularly in people and within communities who rarely have the chance to see their stories, their lives on stage. The feedback was brilliant. After reading through it all and chatting about it with the cast we have such a clear direction for the future of this show. We know what to cut, what to develop and what was missing. Thank you to everyone who came along and became part of this creative process. Watch this space. We are hoping to bring The Museum of Life to a full production in 2027 🤩💛 And huge thanks to our funders @paulhamlynfoundation @aceagrams @enjoolatafoundation for making it all possible 🙌🏽

What show would @hclaytonwright see before the apocalypse?
☄️ Mr Blackpool comes to Attenborough Centre for three shows from Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 May as part of @brightonfestival . Described as an ‘end of the pier show at the end of the world’, Harry picks out Pee-Wee Herman, @bettygrumble and @therealhotbrownhoney as artists he would see before armageddon. Book tickets to Mr Blackpool now at the link in our bio. It will have you in raptures…just hopefully not before The Rapture. Presented in partnership with @marlboroughproductions Interview by @sussexunimah student @Ronni.arrowsmith in the ACCA cafe. #BrightonFestival #Brighton #BrightonArts #SussexArts #BrightonTheatre #BlackpoolArtist
