🎙📁 The Music Folder #23 | Emptyset
In this new episode of The Music Folder, we talk to James Ginzburg and Paul Purgas of @_emptyset the multidisciplinary production project exploring the sonic limits of electroacoustic and computer music, in conversation with researcher Maria Teresa Soldani.
The discussion traces the duo’s interest in materiality, performance, and sound as architectural force — from their reflections on experimental media and global sound practices to their recent work Dissever, premiered at @berlinatonal .
With a full-frequency approach to sound design and a deeply physical experience of listening, Emptyset continues to challenge how we perceive space, noise, and embodiment.

“There’s something deeply primal to submitting to these powerful sheets of sonic aberrations. It’s the musical equivalent of standing on a shoreline, gazing out across a seemingly endless, turbulent sea. Look into the void. Yield to the vastness. Stare down the stony abyss. Just be prepared to pick yourself up out of the rubble after. " - from Jon Buckland's (@pacificbeliefs ) review on @thequietus
