Dan - Speedway Rider.
I recently attended a small speedway event with a friend. I’d been to motor racing events before, but only at larger tarmac tracks.
I enjoyed the low key, grass roots nature of it, a few portacabins and a small open pit area, a dirt oval track and the smell of petrol.
@rorymilton and his Suzuki RM 250.
After a year of documenting motorbikes, flat-track races and beach events, embracing the culture, riders and their machines. I was back at Lydd Raceway, where it started, shooting some familiar faces.
Earlier this year I spent an afternoon getting to know @jakethetindall a little better, we met at his garage while he was re-building his ‘78 Yamaha XS. We talked bikes, racing, close calls, and the value of a strong local community of enthusiasts.
I had the pleasure of shooting a custom built BMW R9T from the guys at @piercitycycles . Based on the cult manga ‘Akira’. The attention to detail on this build is next level, from all the custom parts to the amazing paint work by @valkyriepaintworks .
It was a lot of fun bringing this neon washed futuristic scene to life. Thanks @alex_hampton for the assist. Zine design by @override13 .
