The gallery is open today, Friday April 11, between 11am to 4pm, before breaking for one week. We reopen on Thursday, April 23.
The Lido Stores gallery is back open this weekend with a curated display of paintings by five artists in Gallery 1 - we’d love to see you, so drop on by if you’re in Margate!
Salon 04.26 features works by Chris Hagan, Mandy Hudson, Fabienne Jenny Jacquet, Sam Ng and Ilona Szalay. These artists have exhibited in past Lido Stores group shows and have been invited by gallery owner-curator Kristen Healy to participate in the first Salon exhibition of 2026.
Salon 04.26 brings a fresh streak of painterly decadence to The Lido Stores - striking curation, exquisite gesture and luscious use of paint.

A wavering state in late March, a seemingly extremely pointless time, two of my recent works have been pounding on my mind.
Jonas Mekas writes in his diary on 29th June 1950, “Sometimes writing saves me. And then, sometimes, I think, I hate it. Because nothing that is really fully lived needs to be written down. It burns itself out totally. Does a tear need to be written down? Or a prayer? Or holding hands? I would like my life to be like that. But now I have to compliment my life with writing... A full life is like a fruit, it reaches its ripeness and it falls down. Now, it sits under my brain and it keeps eating me, wants to be born.”
During February, drawn by the title ‘Poetic Solutions to Philosophical Problems’, I was properly introduced to Abbas Kiarostami’s filmography after attending a course led by Ehsan Khoshbakht. Only until recently did I come across the idea of the Garden of Leaflessness from a film of his. It’s a Persian poem. The Garden of Leaflessness. Who dares say that it isn’t beautiful?
It’s hard to acknowledge that some works don’t blossom, but rather remain beautiful leafless; nevertheless, the beauty within them should not be diminished. Back in January, when 𝙍𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙖𝙣, 𝙍𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚 was born, I didn’t fully grasp what it was about. It began as a rather vague idea and became something I now seem to be fond of. And therefore, 𝙏𝙨𝙠 is here.

We are delighted to welcome Sam Ng to our cohort of resident artists following inclusion of his ethereal and elegant work in the Lido Open 22 and our most recent Alt. Valentines exhibition, Memento Amoris. Sam’s work will feature in the new curation in Gallery 1 upon reopening on Thursday, April 2.
Growing up in a fast-paced city, Sam is acutely aware of time, and change has shaped his interest in capturing the quiet significance of ordinary moments, infusing them with beauty and meaning. Sam uses painting as a medium to sculpt time, as his work goes beyond the surface of images, focusing on their underlying essence and the passage of time. By emphasising the physical qualities of colours, Ng expands the possibilities of painting as a visual language.
His style blurs the lines between abstraction and figuration, exploring the relationship between imagery and the painted surface. Sam’s work addresses themes of memory and loss, using fragments of the past to create art that transcends time and context. Key elements of his style include colour, texture, and the process of stripping away layers to reveal the essential marks, reflecting the transient.
Sam Ng (b.1999, Hong Kong) lives and works in London, where he graduated with first-class honours in BA (Hons) Fine Art from Central St Martins in 2022. He has had several shows around the UK, such as Pearlescent at the Handbag Factory; Beep Painting Biennial 2024; Innocent Pleasures Suit Me by Warbling in London; and The Lido Open 22 in Margate. Sam Ng is collected by various private collectors in the UK, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
DM or email for a works list and with all enquiries. We look forward to sharing his work with you.
