What an honor and a pleasure to be included in the Chicago Blues Festival this summer, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of Chess Records' studio at 2120 S Michigan Ave.
So surreal to share the stage with so many heavy hitters in the blues scene and descendants of blues royalty like Chuck Berry's son and grandson, Muddy Waters' son, and the daughters of Howlin' Wolf.
Although my grandpa (Papa Phil) made a name for himself on the other side of the control panel, I think he'd be proud to see me play some blues in his iconic studio.
Also, a HUGE thanks to the Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation for its excellent stewardship of the Chess Records recording studio, which they've transformed into an amazing museum. Please check it out next time you're in Chicago!
