Pleasure to be back at @scotsfiddlefest this weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out the festival club and this morning's workshop, I had a blast meeting you all! Here's myself and @seanlgray playing @therealtimedey 's tune 'Little Bird' followed by one of my favourites, 'Mike to the Rescue' by Andrea Beaton @beatonsdelight , and my own tune 'Good Days', at the Plockton Music School past and present showcase. Worth watching to the end for Seán's playing alone! @studentsofplocktonmusicschool
I wrote this tune a while ago, and have found quite a lot of comfort in getting lost in it. I feel it’s got a hymnal or gaelic song sort of feel to it, so have really enjoyed playing around with it in this lovely wee building on the site of an old @churchofscotland Mission Hall on the west side of Lewis while on holiday this week. #scotland #fiddle #folkmusic #newmusic #lewis #eileanansiar #workinprogress #celticmusic
It definitely feels like we’re tipping into autumn. My brain has been very foggy after all the summer adventures and I’m gently trying to get in gear for returning to teaching 2 days/week while also wanting to lean in and slow down. Here’s a (still nameless) tune of mine played in the wee mission hall in Breanais, Lewis this summer while on holiday. Watch out for the spider. #folk #music #fiddle #breanais #isleoflewis
One month of London chapter 2! Safe to say there’s never a dull moment, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend so much time in such an amazing space @the_globe and for lovely London pals. Wouldn’t mind getting the sun back now though, the cryptic crossword is getting soggy.
First time playing my ‘old’ fiddle in a while - it’s punishing me for it! Makes me appreciate how quickly my ‘new’ (old!) fiddle from @timwrightfineviolins has become ‘my’ fiddle. Here’s a wee blast of Donald Riddell’s gorgeous tune The Snipe.
SO excited to be in the band for A Midsummer Night’s Dream at @the_globe this summer, directed by Emily Lim, music by @james.fortune.12 and arrangements @zacgvi . Such an iconic venue and a total dream gig for me. London summer here we go, pass the factor 50… #Shakespeare #theatre #London
The comedy perk of having to cut short our holiday due to boats/weather was travelling on the MV Finlaggan which due to a bizarre series of events, has my voice doing the disembarking announcements 😂 Almost made up for the unplanned trip to Kennacraig 😂 #Kennacraic
Was gifted this wee crochet figure of me in my @balladlines double-denims after our final show, made by Charlotte who crocheted the full cast and band! 😍 reminiscing while packing for the next adventure.
