Marwan Abdelhamid is part of a new wave of Arab superstars who are unapologetically Middle Eastern, despite the many language they sing in – English, Arabic, and French, often all of them in a single track.
“French is cool, English is cool, but Arabic is the language of love,” he tells
@thisissumayya . “And I’m more cheeky in Arabic. You can express things you can’t necessarily do in other languages.”
At just 25, he’s steady on his way to becoming a defining voice of a generation. From his home in Amman, he chats to GQ Middle East about his rise, but also the real milestone that remains ahead: returning to Palestine.
