yooooo u know what it is!
major apologies for such a late post this go round, please forgive my forgetfulness π«ΆπΎ the Sketchbook Club is back on at @oddly this Monday the 4th from 6-8p. would love to see you there!
T.S. Eliot famously said "April is the cruelest month" but i have to strongly disagree. this has been an extremely transformative month in an already interesting year for me. feeling very expansive and excited about all i see in thru my windshield. shout out to life for real.

like we always do at this time!
the Sketchbook Club is back and at @oddly for this month's gathering next Monday, April 6th from 6p-8p. if u know the vibes, u know these are always such fun and generative environment for artists of all stripes, and if u never been, come on thruuu! bring yourself, bring a friend can wait to see yall again!
Last Sunday i had the esteemed pleasure to open up for @officialslumvillage at the @recordbar , along side @popstarparis and @inner_sanctum_kc . In short, it felt like a homecoming of sorts. It had been well over a decade since i touched a stage, and up until very recently i hadn't been making music at all, so to receive such a warm embrace upon my return made me realize how special being able to do this has always been for me. i truly appreciate the opportunity and privilege to be able to perform again. This season of my life has truly been one of not only returning to myself, but expanding my capacity. To be seen, to be felt, to be here. Things are coming into sharper focus, and im so grateful to be having this experience right now. ππΎββοΈ

Greetings and blessings!
Im so excited to continue on this journey with you all! I firstly want to give an small apology, some personal scheduling issues disrupted our normal 1st Monday meet up, so next week we will be linking back up with the good folks over at @oddly on Monday 9th from 6-8p, I hope to see yall there!
what's on yall Black History Month reading list?
one of my favorite things about February is the concerted effort i make to primary read literature by and about black people. and as this month is winding down i just wanted to use this space to highlight some of the fiction, nonfiction and poetry i've poured over during BHM. some rereads, some familiarizing with authors i've wanted to know more about, some totally new stuff, i think it is important to engage with this work year round, but i just love to hyper fixate on this stuff in February.
what are the things you've been reading?
should i keep it up?
being very candid, i am currently operating without any strategy or plan. one is always being developed but never fully implemented. feels like i am always just wantonly dropping seeds and seeing which ones take root. my only goal in this time is to put out as much art as i make, in all the forms it takes, with no expectations. rewriting my definition of success, reimagining my relationship with failure. this narrative is more character driven than plot based. im just up here, out here, existing.
We back at it again gang!
Firstly i wanna give tremendous thanks to all of you who showed up to January's gathering at Oddly Correct, yall have really been getting the word out and helping this thing reach heights i never expected when i started this. Seeing the familiar faces like @joetrotterart , @jaded.nico , @alicejokelly come thru, as well as all of the new attendees just fills my heart every time. i truly appreciate what we are creating together.
next Monday, February 2nd the sketchbook club links back up at our regular spot at Prospero's Books from 6-8p, hope to see yall there! π«ΆπΎ
Wilderness (for Alex Pretti)
I am told
my opposable thumbs are what
separates men from the wild beasts
but lately mine can only seem to show me
atrocities no apex predator could possibly
conceive of
a bear
does not kill out of malice
or to assert dominion, to display power
does not exist in nature in the ways we must
bear witness
in between
advertisements for sports betting apps
and cheaply manufactured goods I am made aware
of insecure Homeland Security agents' latest death
dealings in broad daylight on a snow laden street
in Minneapolis
this afternoon,
an influencer tells me to
step outside for approximately
five minutes, that spending just a few
moments in the elements is the best way to regulate the
nervous system
I step
out on the porch
on the quiet below freezing evening
long enough to let my ears get cold and stare
out into the blue-gray sky and wonder what else can
be done
I am told
this is the final straw
the last grain of sand in the hour of our
winter of discontent, but I'm not so sure, is this
really what the thumb is for? or has the time come to
bear arms
and become the wilderness
~~~
just tryna process my thoughts in these trying times
Fuck ICE
