Slide 1 - @mr_sneekn_n_geekn ‘s international debut on @planet.mu seminal *Bangs and Works* compilation in 2010 marked his arrival on the global footwork stage. Though he took a hiatus, his love for production was reignited after DJ.Mc’s unique and spacey EP entitled Relentless was released on the illustrious @hyperdubrecords Label in London. For @safe_asfuck Vol. 4 comp., he brings “What That Be Like,” a track that embodies the expansive, unmistakably Chicago footwork sound. Layered with a slowed-down jazz sample and a heavy, driving bassline, the track also pulls in a sample from *Friday After Next*, from the *Friday* trilogy which we totally fuck with 😎 Be sure to check out our exclusive interview w/him. We are honoured to have this legend on the label ⚜️ Slide 2 -The track entitled “Left”, by @omiii_safeasfx at 82.5 bpm and is designed to sound good when mixed with halftime drum and bass, Footwork and Hip Hop. The chopped samples are taken from Mariah Carey’s We belong together, Stems from the track “Lights” by OZ. and layered with drums that just won’t quit. The Intro and outro does allow the DJ to ease in and out of the track when doing a blend. The low end is powerful and the percussion floats seamlessly above the mid bass, creating a heavy yet catchy groove. Download the track, show your friends 😌 Slide 3 – @frigid.music has been on a tear for the last few years in the west and east coast bass scenes. His track “Crush” delivers a solid serving of halftime drum and bass; the sound profile is layered nicely with a massive sub, very widely placed horns that really accentuate the other elements and some gross mid bass stabs that remind you that the track is still gritty af. The vocal chops fill all the right spaces in the mix and really tie the track together. Give it up for this banger of a tune by the man @frigid.music 🥶 Slide 4 - ZANE – Our boy Zane is back with another belter. It’s unconventional, it’s hard af, and it is at 113 bpm. With elements of drone, drill and dub, this one is perfect for a Halloween rave or house party. 🎹 Every pad, every piano note, every rhythm feels like it’s drenched in the Vancouver rain. The name itself — Beatmool — comes from the Korean word 빗물, meaning rainwater. It’s a perfect metaphor for the kind of liquid drum & bass he makes — reflective, alive, and in constant motion. 🚚 He tells us about coming back from his first @shambhala_mf 2015 and hearing a sunrise liquid DnB set that changed everything 🌅 “I saw people smiling, dancing, connecting. I wanted to make music like that.”
Influences followed: @calibresignature , @ltj_bukem , @artificialintelligenceee , Dawn Wall, Technimatic, @alixperez1985 — the soul architects of the genre. Beatmool’s own production philosophy? Melody over machinery. He records live piano and guitar, instruments he’s played since childhood, to give his music that raw, human texture 🎸 When he’s not teaching or meditating by the water, you’ll find him digging into 1980s soul and Diana Ross records, or daydreaming about a collab with @nujabes.official 🫶🏻 he’s given us an exclusive 90-minute mix that captures the full spectrum of his sound: liquid, soulful, introspective, and quietly euphoric. British Columbia’s most slept-on 140 wizard delivers a tune that slides effortlessly into any set in the same or adjacent keys—seriously, try it. 🤠 Slide 03 OMIII – “3l Barto” @omiii_safeasfx latest cut, “3l Barto,” was Written in Toronto in a sweltering High Park apartment in 2020 during the pandemic spring w/ edits over the years. It samples a ripped YouTube recording of a traditional Chinese instrument into a sharp, twang-laden lead via midi. A sub snarls between 40–117 Hz, layered with sparse kicks, delayed high-end textures, and ghostly snares. Its title nods to Bart Simpson’s phantom graffiti alter-ego, El Barto 😈 Slide 04 Lurk SkyWalker - Luminescence @lurkskywalker_vs has been a Vancouver staple for years, and you can hear it in Luminescence—proper Canadian dubstep at its finest. Think early Zeds Dead but stripped down: a warped synth patch, slow-opening filters, mid-bass growl, and vocals that add just the right soul. Deceptively catchy, rave-ready, and guaranteed to spark bass faces. Big up Daniel 👌 Slide 05 Archie_WIP EDIT - Murking - JME @archie_wip is back with an edit of JME’s Murking—and it slaps. A tasty bassline snakes between airy arps and delayed pads, with drums that lock the groove in place.
