One year ago we looked into the heart of the storm. We saw the wild and felt how thin the line is between life and loss.
In those hours we lost Karla 💔 Yet her spirit is still part of us. We carry her in every memory, in every story. She sails with us, guiding our voyage like the stars once guided the Vikings.
We are deeply grateful that five of us survived. August 27 will always be our second birthday. This day reminds us that survival carries both gratitude and sorrow.
We remember Karla with love, not only for who she was but for what she left within us. She was the youngest of us, yet her wisdom and joy touched everyone around her. The sea took her that day, but it also gave us the responsibility to carry her light forward. Wherever we sail, her spirit is present. She is forever part of our story, forever part of our crew ❤️✨

On Monday the Viking Voyage crew hosted an event for 550 school kids at the @sound_art_live_theatre@visit.suduroy . Karla (@karlakarlitadana ) shared her work in Costa Rica preserving indigenous culture, while Andy (@skipandyfitze ) spoke about being an explorer and navigating icy waters, with Martin (@martin.fitze ) demonstrating survival gear. Livar (@livart_fo ), a world record ocean rower, inspired the kids with his adventures. Bertrand Piccard (@bertrand.piccard ) encouraged them to believe nothing is impossible, and Sirið Stenberg, Minister of Culture, highlighted the importance of preserving Faroese culture. Finally, Andy gave out a special surprise to the kids: beautiful Swiss pocket knives gifted by Victorinox (@victorinox ), the iconic Swiss company. Now, we wait for the right weather to sail to Norway ⛵️✨
