It was so much fun to get dressed up, spend time with @etchingprint and Róisín from @futafata and to soak up the wonderful atmosphere! We didn't win, but definitely feel like winners regardless. I am so beyond proud that our book is the first ever children's book written in Irish to have been shortlisted. Huge thanks to everyone who voted for us, who told friends and family about our book, who wrote about us and who championed An Fia sa Choill. That love and support is better than any award and I am so grateful for every single 'like', comment, message, text and photos of deer being spotted in the wild! ❤️ Huge congratulations to all the winners.🎉 Huge thanks to everyone at Futa Fata for their support from day 1 - special shout out to @gemma_bre who has been an amazing support dealing with the the PR stuff! 🚨 News 🚨 Nuacht 🚨 I barely know where to start with this story because I still can't quite believe it's happened. But it's very exciting, so I'll do my best! Last September, at the @kidsbooksirel conference, I randomly got speaking to someone who told me that they enjoyed my books. This person had an American accent... and was visiting from London... so I was immediately baffled as to how they even knew my books existed let alone had read them. "Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge." she told me and we had a brief but lovely chat about Gaeilge, her work as a literary agent and books, of course. She very kindly gave me her card and suggested that we chat again some time. Fast forward to April this year. I'm at @bolognachildrensbookfair and our opportunity to chat again arrived - totally unplanned and out of the blue. This time, the marvellous @mollykh_dha and I had a lengthy conversation about all sorts of things - life, family, the book world, Gaeilge lessons and the types of stories we both enjoy. Somehow the conversation ended with us deciding to work together! I am BEYOND thrilled to announce that I have signed with @davidhighambooks . I am especially delighted to be represented by Molly Ker Hawn and to be in the company of so many writers I admire. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together! Watch this space, I guess! 🎉

A tiny snippet of my first day at @bolognachildrensbookfair . I didn't quite manage to capture the scale of this thing (it's HUMUNGOUS... Just ask my aching feet 😅) but I had an incredible time meeting people, listening to fascinating talks, chatting with my Irish kid lit colleagues and soaking up every ounce of inspiration I could. It's WILD and completely magical. Rounding out the evening at the @illustratorsireland exhibition opening was the perfect way to end Day 1. Can't wait for Day 2!!

I'm so excited to be at the @bolognachildrensbookfair for the first time. Travelling with two of my favourite illustrator pals @tarsilakruse & @roisin.hahessy has been brilliant fun. We haven't stopped laughing despite one of our trains breaking down, us needing to figure out how to get to our next train station before we were left stranded in Milan and none of us speaking enough Italian to have a clue where we were going 😂😂 (shout out to the magical Constanza who appeared out of nowhere and took us under her wing 💖) We've spent the day getting our bearings, eating, meeting the amazing @ana.with.the.key and eating. I cannot wait for the first day of the fair tomorrow!!
