Big moment for the future of AI in our region. ๐
Today, Sacramento State joined industry partners, education, and civic leaders in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize a first-of-its-kind AI workforce pipeline from kindergarten through career. ๐ ๐ผ
The AI K-Career initiative brings schools and industry partners together to align on what education, skills, and training are needed to connect people to jobs in the City of Rancho Cordovaโsetting a new standard for how regions can prepare talent for the future.
"This is exactly the kind of collaboration that defines what a university like ours does. We prepare students to create a better life through alignment with industry partners, ensuring they graduate with gainful employment. We're glad to be in partnership with all the amazing people around this table and looking forward to being a core part of what is going to continue to transform this region." - @sacstatepresident@drlukewood

Today, Rancho Cordova and its partners signed an agreement to advance K to Career, a workforce-focused effort within the cityโs broader AI & Robotics Ecosystem. The goal is to bring education and industry together to explore how training, skills and workforce needs can better align in AI, robotics and semiconductor industries.
What makes this especially exciting is who is at the table alongside the City of Rancho Cordova: HMCI, Nvidia, Solidigm, Sac State, Folsom Lake College, Folsom Cordova Unified School District, FarmGPU and SMUD, all working together to shape the future workforce.
The K-Career effort is an example of how great things happen when a city partners with visionary AI companies, educators and private businesses to take the first step toward creating an AI and semiconductor workforce pathway anchored in Rancho Cordova.
Last week, Sacramento State honored @repdorismatsui and philanthropist Roger Sant for their generosity and commitment to civic engagement at the Robert S. Nelsen Civic Engagement Grant Awards Luncheon. ๐
Thanks to their $1 million endowment, the grant continues to fuel partnerships between the University and the region. More than $40,000 in grant funding in 2025-26 supported projects bringing students, faculty, and community organizations together to address real-world challenges. โจ
