Volunteering is one of the most powerful and rewarding ways you can give, with your time and skills able to change lives just as much as donating money. This SA Giving Week, hear from some everyday South Australians about why they volunteer their time. Find opportunities with @freddymatchme to volunteer in your local area and for causes that mean the most to you. Find out more at the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #volunteering #giving

When he first contemplated the idea of starting @ngutucollege , Andrew approached Geoff Day and his Day Family Foundation to ask whether he’d support a music program. The answer was ‘yes,’ and that early commitment quickly became a catalyst for much more. Andrew, who is now Ngutu’s Head of College, says giving in all its forms, including volunteering, in-kind support, donations and grants, has helped create a special place in Adelaide’s western suburbs for more than 300 young people. Learn more about how giving has supported Ngutu College and consider how you can give this SA Giving Week by visiting the links in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #donate #volunteer

After stepping away from full-time work, Julianne found volunteering with @the_village_co helped restore a sense of routine and confidence. “You feel worthy again,” she says. “You feel like you still have something to offer, and that what you do actually changes people’s lives.” Read more about how Julianne’s volunteering supports The Village Co’s incredible work and why she says giving is win-win in the 'Giving stories' via the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #volunteer #donate

Founder of @theresilienceproject__ , @hughvancuylenburg , has been talking about empathy for a long time now, and for good reason. Research tells us everything time we do something kind for someone, like the giving we’re celebrating this SA Giving Week, our brain releases oxytocin - the “feel good” hormone. This has a huge impact on our wellbeing and happiness! Hugh’s put an idea out to all of us - the next time you’re writing a to-do list, add something you could do for someone else. Find out how you can do something for someone else, like donating to a charity or volunteering your time, on the SA Giving Week website via the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #resilience #empathy #TheResilienceProject

“When communities grow stronger, leadership becomes not a title held by a few, but a capacity shared by many.” In this wonderful and thoughtful opinion article published by InDaily, @impact100sa Chair Kathryn House AM explores how the leaders that she admires most understand their strengths, values and limits, but consistently re-direct that self-awareness towards something larger than their own advancement. Ahead of the first-ever SA Giving Week, Kathryn’s words remind us that giving is not simply a financial act, but a mindset. We’re thrilled that Kathryn will host the ‘Generous South Australians: Impact100 SA Member Event’ event this Thursday night and will present on collective giving at the SA Giving Week Philanthropy Showcase on Friday morning. Read Kathryn’s article in @indaily via the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #CollectiveGiving

“Philanthropy has what we often call risk capital. Governments tend to have working capital, but they generally can’t invest in early-stage or pilot projects. That’s where private giving is so powerful — it bridges the gap between discovery and delivery.” Ahead of SA Giving Week, Kerry de Lorme, Executive Director of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation, explains the role of philanthropy in backing medical research and innovation. Find out more about how the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation was established and why the foundation has quietly backed bioinformatics research at SAHMRI for more than a decade by reading the 'Giving stories' at the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #medicalresearch #foundation

Setting up a family foundation, according to Angelique, allows her family to “give intentionally, strategically and long-term” and is something that will outlive any one person. After more than three decades, Angelique Boileau sold her successful family business and used the funds to launch the Boileau Family Foundation which creates enduring, meaningful impact by supporting causes that reflect her family’s values. Among those causes is the conservation of animals threatened with extinction, with the foundation funding specific @zoossa conservation projects including support for Giant Pandas, Red Pandas, rhinos and the native critically endangered Orange-bellied Parrot. Find out more about how Angelique’s family foundation is setting up giving for generations to come by reading the 'Giving Stories' at the link in our page's bio. #SAGivingWeek #SAGW #philanthropy #giving #foundation
