The wife and I got to go monkeying around with Gorillaz, shoutout to 2-D and Noodle for the photo op ๐ The @houseofkong exhibition in LA was quite magical.
Like a lot of you, I have been an admirer of this group for a long time. I am still grateful I got the chance to meet and thank @hewll and Damon Albarn years ago for what they have put into the world. Their influence has definitely bled into my own work here and there.
It feels especially important these days to be a patron of the arts whenever you can. Gorillaz have celebrated world cultures and blended style and substance from day one, and it is awesome to see that spirit still alive in the new stuff.
And beyond all that, it was just really special sharing it with my wife. Seeing her smile and take it all in with genuine wonder meant the world. I do not know if these cartoon legends will ever beat out Taylor Swift in her rotation, but I think they just pulled off having a bigger footprint in her playlists ๐
Maybe you are into their music, maybe not. But I hope you have, or find, something that inspires you the way they have inspired me and my peers.
