2025.12.05 Sequoia (Pear Lake)
A couple photos shot around 10pm.
Hiked all day only to find a frozen lake. Wasnât quite expecting that. I probably shouldâve known better, but thankful I had just enough gear. The night got down to 29°F (-1.67°C). On the plus side, no one had been here for weeks; no tracks in the snow. Tent: @durstongear X-Dome 1+.

Pleasantly surprised to find good camping spots at both of these lakes. A feeling of relief once I had camp set up. Spent the rest of the afternoon photographing and exploring around Lou Beverly Lake. Elevation 10,000 ft.

2025.07.25 Views from Sandpiper Lake. I was struck by vastness of the sky and the extreme harshness of the granite. Didnât see a single soul all day. I was a tiny speck of a person plodding through this enormous landscape.

Iâve recently come across a Mamiya RB67 and have been testing it out. Itâs such a large camera and negative, so thatâs a new (slower) process for me. Hereâs a portrait off the first test roll with @grainyportraits_ana . I might come bug some of you for a portrait. Hopefully I can shoot more of them this year.

2025.07.24 8pm at Sandpiper Lake. A day off trail hiking over these ridges. Looking for a place to camp. I met a hiker three days earlier who mentioned staying at this lake. Glad I had that little interaction. It put my mind at ease.

2025.07.25 Hiking between lakes. I was trying to find a campsite, so I could attempt a reasonable (14 miles) hike back to my car the next day. In retrospect, I wish I couldâve taken more time exploring this area. Just so many cool photo possibilities here.

I spent a week in the John Muir Wilderness for my birthday last July. Each day was incredibly adventuresome. I had no clue what Iâd see or encounter, or where Iâd sleep for that matter. I had photographed the Sierra from the outside, but to walk through it was an entirely richer experience. I feel as if itâs the only way to appreciate the grandeur and immense solitude.
