We’re super excited for these upcoming shows spread over the latter part of next week in Ōhinehou (Lyttelton), taking place as part of the amazing
@port.noise festival programme amidst an absolutely top notch lineup of local and international artists - LINK TO TICKETS IN BIO
Firstly on Thursday the 19th of February, a few of our whānau (including members of the
@waiwhai.ai band,
@mauri.aura and Sina Leo) arrive to assemble an intimate art week show at Lyttelton Arts Factory - Taha Tau: Ōhinehou, an event blending experimental ambient beats/music, ngā taonga puoro (traditional Māori instruments), and slow-building improvisations alongside some very special guests from Ōtautahi. Expect sounds both contemplative and light supported by a misted atmosphere + visual accompaniment from Sina Leo (
@space.vox ).
Then on festival day Saturday 21st of February, WAIWHAI. will be bringing an eclectic set rooted in underground psychedelic noise/punk/taonga puoro and auto-tune music, nodding to bands and musicians connected to his musical whakapapa and the vast musical whakapapa of WAIWHAI. band members, weaving a unique sonic tapestry that is both wildly familiar and surprising. Joined by
@ryantomov (Fruju Peak, Jackaltheblackal) on bass guitar,
@finn.mcneill (Fruju Peak, Jackaltheblackal, Psychogab, Vida) on drums, and Anita Clark (
@motte_ettom , Whipping Star, Don McGlashan) on Violin/FX, this is an iteration of the WAIWHAI. haerenga that we’re honoured to be bringing down to Te Wai Pounamu. See you in Ōhinehou whānau 🌀
